Daisuke

Daisuke is a trainee on the space freighter Tulpar, under the supervision of ship's mechanic Swansea.

Daisuke is a tall young man with tanned skin, medium-length brown hair that is partially dyed, and almond-shaped brown eyes; he has a round face with moles on his cheeks, with his right mole being under his eye and his left mole being slightly below. He wears a yellow and red T-shirt with the Pony Express logo, a pink button-up shirt with a hibiscus pattern, blue jeans, and black boots. He also has a few accessories, such as silver rings and a red bracelet that matches his Pony Express shirt.

Daisuke is perhaps the most optimistic member of the crew. He is almost always enthusiastic and excited about everything that happens on the ship: the mentee seemed to feel like he was doing his part in the menial task of quadruple-stocking the kitchen at the behest of an exasperated Swansea. Even after the accident, he tries to maintain his presence of mind. However, despite his cheerful exterior, Daisuke drunkenly admits to Jimmy later in the game that he is struggling to find meaning in life.

Daisuke didn't want to do the internship, but his parents forced him because he was an aimless young man. Worried about his future, they thought that spending some time in a stricter environment and away from home would eventually help him find his way in life. When he ends up on Tulpar, he's initially hurt, but eventually decides to pretend everything is okay and try his best to make his parents proud.

According to Daisuke, his mother got him this internship at Tulpar. "Such a slacker," she said, in Chapter 8 Daisuke quoted her comment about his non-existent career prospects - there was no mention of college. Judging from his dialogue, he spent his days and nights partying and getting drunk. Jimmy also hints that Daisuke seems to come from a wealthy family, though Jimmy may just be teasing.

Daisuke's relationship with Jimmy is quite strained. Although Daisuke tries his best to get along with him, as he does with the rest of the crew, Jimmy openly dislikes Daisuke and considers him a nuisance who has no place on the ship.

Not much is known about Daisuke's relationship with Anya, but it can be assumed that they are friends, as they enjoy playing board games together in their free time, which can apparently be quite intense.

Daisuke works directly under Swansea as a trainee. Although it is clear that Daisuke is trying to impress Swansea or exceed his expectations (as shown in Chapter 4 when he gets stuck in the foam), Daisuke often fails, causing his relationship with Swansea to become tense and authoritarian, with Swansea constantly criticizing his abilities and thinking poorly of him. Despite this, it is clear from their final conversation that Swansea treated Daisuke like a son or ward, and was the one to offer him a final favor.

Before the crash, their relationship seemed normal.

Daisuke plays baseball.

Daisuke has a fondness for sugar, as evidenced by his comments about making extra packets of the sweetener and hiding a few in his blanket.

Daisuke regularly goes to the local gambling hall, even though he is sure that the machines there are rigged. Nevertheless, he continues to try his luck.

Daisuke also enjoys collecting and finding unique vintage clothes. He has great taste, so no one wears the same clothes as him. However, his parents don't quite understand his love for it.

Mouthwashing is a psychological horror game.

The Tulpar is a long-range space freighter provided by Pony Express, on which the game takes place. The vessel was designed to accommodate a crew of 4 for a year of continuous interstellar travel.
