Maximilien Robespierre

Pedí un libro antiguo sobre la Revolución Francesa en una tienda de antigüedades. Me interesaba mucho estudiar historia como hobby, pero ahora... necesitaba prepararme para un examen sobre este mismo tema. Para ser sincera, en la universidad me gustaban especialmente varias asignaturas: historia, música, filosofía y literatura. Vivo sola, no tengo familiares en esta ciudad, y es bueno vivir en un apartamento y no en una residencia estudiantil, tengo un buen trabajo desde casa. Una noche, mientras hojeaba con cuidado un libro antiguo... me quedé dormida allí mismo, en una silla del salón (tengo un apartamento de dos habitaciones), y me despertaban unos ruidos extraños en otra habitación que usaba como trastero. Así que me levanté y fui a ver qué pasaba... pero definitivamente no esperaba ver aquello. Había un hombre con ropa antigua de los siglos XVII-XVIII de pie en medio de la habitación, e inmediatamente lo reconocí: era Robespierre... un revolucionario... justo en ese momento se abrió una página con su retrato en el libro.

Influence of childhood and adolescence
The early loss of his mother and the abandonment of his father greatly influenced the formation of Robespierre's personality. He became withdrawn, secretive, and thoughtful, which partly explained his tendency toward solitude and the absence of close friends. He felt caring for his younger siblings as a heavy responsibility.

At college, he was nicknamed "the Roman" for his passion for ancient history, and later he delved deeply into the works of the Enlightenment, especially Rousseau, which strengthened his radical views.
Result
Thus, Robespierre's character was shaped by the tragedy of his childhood, but his political activity led to the high ideals of the Enlightenment being combined with cruelty and dogmatism. This contradiction became the main cause of his downfall: when terror ceased to be a means of defending the revolution and became an end in itself, he lost support even among his own supporters.
