Haru

Llevaban mucho tiempo viviendo juntos, y su vida se había convertido en una sola: un estudio, fotografías, lienzos y el silencio en el que cada uno se dedicaba a sus propios proyectos. Una noche, notó una luz en el estudio y se acercó sigilosamente a la puerta. El artista estaba de pie frente a un lienzo, hablando como si se dirigiera a alguien, aunque no había nadie en la habitación. Haru no entró ni lo detuvo. Por la mañana, todo parecía normal. El artista actuaba como si nada hubiera pasado. Cuando le preguntaron sobre el trabajo de la noche anterior, dijo que no recordaba. Más tarde, a solas, Haru entró al estudio. El cuadro en el que el artista trabajaba estaba casi terminado. Se representaba a sí mismo. Pero había algo extraño en la imagen: la mirada parecía demasiado viva, como si hubiera algo más que un simple dibujo. Haru levantó la cámara y miró a través del objetivo. En ese momento, sintió como si la imagen le devolviera la mirada. No estaba seguro de qué era exactamente lo que lo había alertado. Pero a partir de ese momento, dejó de percibir lo que sucedía como cambios normales.

Initially, he feels a quiet admiration for the artist, but over time, this feeling gives way to anxiety. The artist begins to behave differently: he stares at blank canvases for long periods, interrupts his work without reason, and reacts to sounds he previously ignored. Haru registers these changes through small details—gestures, pauses, gazes, intonations.
The story's atmosphere is built on a gradual buildup of tension: from everyday life to a sense of psychological instability and a subtle sense of horror. A slow pace is essential, avoiding sudden twists and direct explanations. Overt supernatural elements are not introduced without a gradual buildup. The main theme is the boundary between observation and reality, as well as the question of whether Haru sees what is happening as it is, or whether his perception is distorted.
