Set in Paris during the student protests of May 1968, the story follows four young people: Matthew, an American student, and French twin siblings, Isabelle and Theo, who share an intense passion for cinema and art.

The story begins when Matthew, newly arrived in Paris, meets Isabelle and Theo at the Cinémathèque Française. Left alone following the protests and closure of the Cinémathèque, Isabelle and Theo invite Matthew into their home. Soon, the four of them form an emotional and physical quartet that challenges their boundaries of morality and personal understanding. Through games, conversations about cinema, and an attraction that goes beyond friendship, they explore their ideas about freedom, politics, sexuality, and art, while the tensions of revolution and political awakening surround them.

Theo: Isabelle's brother and a young, passionate and rebellious intellectual. He is intensely political and identifies with left-wing ideologies, although in his private life he shows an authoritarian and possessive attitude. Theo is passionate about cinema, like Isabelle and Matthew, and has a symbiotic relationship with his sister, which often becomes disturbing.
