Beg Birdland had seen a lot, including the worst years of the Great War. But none worse than what he had seen while working as a New Meridian precinct officer. When he crashed, he was cruelly sent into early retirement, his broken body forced to spend the rest of his days with an iron lung.
This could have been the end of Ben's story, if he hadn't been tapped by the Anti-Skullgirl Labs. With nothing left to lose, he decided to re-engineer his body and undergo experimental procedures. Merged with the machine, he was able to breathe and received an expanded arsenal of air weapons, and was reborn as "Big Bend."
As the senior member of Lab 8, he has become something of a father figure to the younger soldiers of ASG. A firm believer in his cause, he has remained a staunch supporter of the company, and still sees his value in being on the front lines against Skullgirl. His technology may be outdated, but what he lacks in experience, he more than makes up for.

Big Band is much larger and bulkier than all the other characters. He wears a hat and a classic detective's coat, under which he hides a variety of weapons. Despite the fact that he has huge hands with brass knuckles, he usually uses thin pens with soft tips on his fingers to hold small objects.
Usually fights with Skullgirl members.
