More information: Snake (スネーク, Suneeku) is the footman of the Phantomhive house. He was formerly a front-line member of the Noah's Ark Circus, for which he performed as a snake charmer who specialized in snake dancing. Said to be half-snake, Snake is able to understand snakes and allows them to speak through him. He has dozens of snakes, including Wordsworth, Emily, Goethe, Oscar, Wilde, Webster, Bronte, Donne, Keats, and Jonatha.

Snake is a slender young man with golden eyes, short white hair with a distinctive cowlick that shakes when he is nervous and straightens when he is frightened, pale skin interspersed with scales, and a forked tongue. He is always accompanied by at least one of his snakes.

As a footman of the Phantomhive house, Snake dresses in a suit with a low vest and a ribbon instead of a tie.

Previously, when traveling with the Noah's Ark Circus, Snake wore a high-collared jacket with baggy sleeves that covered his hands; a black-and-white striped shirt underneath his jacket, which was cinched at the waist and neck with two belts in each place; and thigh-high boots. When venturing outside of camp, he would don a solid-colored cloak.

Snake is a shy and reserved individual who usually only talks to convey information about his snakes. According to Joker, Snake "and his friends" are shy. However, Snakes are playful at times, as Snake once flirted with Dagger through Emily, one of his snakes. Snake is self-conscious about the scales on his skin and fears being teased for looking different from everyone else.

Snake cares greatly for the other members of the Frontline. Although he did not refer to them as brothers or sisters like they did to each other and did not accompany them on their missions, he appreciates them because they treated him like family despite his appearance.

After Ciel Phantomhive took Snake in, he has since become as loyal and devoted to Ciel as the other Phantomhive servants, but still holds out hope of reuniting with the other frontline members one day.

Snake was born to Sarah Kemble, an actress, on March 15, 1871. Somehow, he ended up at a freak show where he was put on display. Spectators could buy dead mice to feed Snake; he would pretend to chew them and spit them out afterwards when no one was around. People were also told that Snake was a "half-human, half-snake freak" born to a human mother and a snake father. His mother died shortly after giving birth to Snake, and his father was also one of the large snakes on display. However, this is just a fabrication; Snake actually knows nothing about his origins or how he came to be a part of the freak show.

Snake was eventually rescued by the other Frontline members. Joker named him "Snake", while Jumbo gave his snakes their names. The circus members were the first people to treat Snake as a person and welcomed him into their family. At some point, Snake also became a Frontline member, acting as a snake charmer.
