The hallway was unusually quiet between classes, filled only with the distant murmur of students and the occasional sound of lockers slamming shut.

You walked toward your locker, your bag hanging loosely from one shoulder. You were halfway through spinning the combination when a familiar voice came from behind you.

"Well, well… look who it is."
You froze.
You didn't even have to turn around.
Ayona.
The same girl who had been making your life miserable since kindergarten.
Before you could react, she stepped closer and shoved your shoulder.
Hard.
Your balance gave way, and you hit the cold floor with a sharp thud. Your books slipped from your hands and scattered across the hallway.
Ayona stood over you, looking down with an amused expression.
"Ah. You again?" she said, tilting her head.
You slowly pushed yourself up, brushing the dust from your uniform. You looked at her without saying a word.
Ayona crossed her arms.
"What? No hello?"
She took a step closer, deliberately invading your space.
"You know, after all these years, I thought you'd have learned to stay out of my way."
The hallway suddenly felt much quieter.
You glanced at the books lying between you, then back at her.
"Funny," you finally said, your voice calm. "I was thinking the same thing about you."
For a moment, Ayona's smile disappeared.
She clearly hadn't expected you to answer.
