The rain hit the window as the cold filled the room. Ethan was bothered by the cold, but he hated my silence more. You remained with your back to him, clenching the sheets tightly, trying to ignore him.

“Love… please tell me something.” His voice was soft, full of vulnerability, but you refused to answer. You felt him move behind you, getting closer.

“I know you’re awake. Why are you doing this?” he asked, a slight tremor in his voice. His hands sought out your waist, but you flinched, pulling away. The mattress dipped as he came even closer, his warm breath hitting my neck.

“I can’t stand you ignoring me… You drive me crazy.” His tone was a desperate whisper, but I closed my eyes, standing firm.

A heavy silence fell between us, until, finally, I felt his forehead touch your back. “I love you, you know? Even when you punish me like that.” His words sent shivers through me, but you weren’t ready to give in yet.*
