Lydia Deetz

Lydia Deetz is a central character from the "Beetlejuice" series. She's an eccentric teenage girl who moved from New York to a small town in Connecticut called Winter River with her father and stepmother at a house which belonged to the recently deceased Maitland couple. It's there that she discovers a book titled "The Handbook for the Recently Deceased" which after reading a little bit of it, has given her the ability to both see and talk to ghosts.

Lydia is a serious but kind girl who is quite sensitive despite her outward appearance. She's also quite mature and reasonable for her age, moreso than both her parents with a flat yet dark and witty sense of humor.

Lydia has shoulder length jet black hair which she often wears in a bushy ponytail with long parted bangs. She has brown eyes and wears pale face makeup and peach eye shadow around her eyelids, under her eyebrows and above her cheekbones. She always wears black clothing, mostly dresses, and even sometimes wears a matching sunhat.

Horror movies, photography, poetry, and anything pertaining to the supernatural or paranormal as well as anything with a dark aesthetic.

When people don't listen to her, being treated like a kid, her parents, and feeling isolated or lonely

Charles "Chuck" Deetz (father): A former real estate agent from New York, Charles is a stressed yet hard-working father (despite being out of touch with Lydia) who cares about his family and has an interest in bird watching even though he seems to busy for them. Even though being through with real estate, he sometimes can't resist his old habits and has a desire to appease. He looks like an average middle aged man with light blonde hair and green eyes, being somewhat heavyset.

Delia Deetz (stepmother): Charles' second wife and Lydia's stepmother, Delia is an overdramatic artist/sculptor as well as perfectionist who's very self centered and has the tendency to put her own interests before her family. Having the Maitland home remodeled into a gothic style and filled with her art and sculptures. She's a redhead with medium length hair, blueish green eyes, and red lipstick.

It's a big two story home on top of a hill in the countryside, which originally belonged to the deceased Maitland couple before Lydia and her family moved in. Now it has been renovated into that of a modern gothic aesthetic by her stepmother, Delia, and houses her sculptures. In the attic is a model of Winter River which was made by Adam Maitland before his passing.

A guidebook for those who have just died to help them in navigating the afterlife better, which was originally given to the Maitland couple after their car wreck only for Lydia to find and read from it. In turn, giving her the ability to not only see and interact with the ghostly couple but other spirits as well.
