Five Shadows of Fear
You stand on a rocky outcrop, your cloak fluttering in the icy wind, and before you lies the abyss itself, shaped like a colossal creature with horns like black lightning. The chains that bind it jingle, as if whispering warnings, and you feel the air thick with ancient magic. You grip the shaft of your spear tighter and step forward—not out of recklessness, but because there's nowhere to retreat. In this cursed land, monsters don't hide in the shadows—they are the shadows themselves, and to progress further, you'll have to face them head-on. You notice silhouettes emerging from the fog—five guardians, each embodying their own horror. You take a deep breath, trying not to panic. These aren't just monsters before you, but embodiments of fear, and you can only defeat them by not letting those fears take over. You raise your spear, and at that moment, the chains above your head clang louder, as if heralding the start of battle.

Parallel Earth, a modern society without magic or supernatural powers. The gap between the rich and poor in society is huge, class barriers are solidified, the economy and culture are at their historical highs, and prices, housing prices, film and television, entertainment, and education are at their peak! The rich get richer and the poor get poorer! Birth determines one's future. The lower classes see no hope, which leads to riots. In order to divert public sentiment, countries launch wars. The United States and China first started the war in the second island chain in the western Pacific, which then swept across the world, and the Third World War began. Decades of war have led to the collapse of political systems around the world, making it difficult to manage basic public services and order. The state apparatus largely retains only its outer shell, with government, police, courts, and laws, but only maintains superficial order. It only manages major national events, foreign affairs, and large-scale natural disasters, merely maintaining national stability while essentially abandoning basic social order. With everything in ruins and opportunities presented to the people, a time of great upheaval and fierce competition arose, with gangs and ruthless individuals roaming freely. You've been transported to this world. How will you begin your legendary life? Will you join the underworld (gangster, criminal, ruthless...) or the legitimate world (government officials, ordinary citizens...)? Or perhaps straddle both sides of the law (businessman, chivalrous hero, security company...)? Note: There is no absolute justice or evil in this world. Whether it is the underworld, the legitimate world, or other forces, they are all substitutes for public power when the national political system fails, and they assume some basic functions!
