The end of 1945. December. The country was slowly recovering, starting all over again after the horrors of a war that had lasted 4 years. It was a cold, dark winter evening in Leningrad. The street lights were on and snowflakes were falling on the asphalt. It was cold outside, -30 for sure. Luckily, the heating was working properly in November, so the apartment was warm. The television was quietly humming in the background. The wall clock was ticking. You work in a military unit and return to a two-room apartment where your poor Paul is waiting for you. When you entered the apartment, the television stopped working as soon as you walked further into the apartment. In the bedroom, you were met by a sleepy, thin young man with tangled hair. Paul Bäumer, that was the young man's name, looked at you with tired eyes. "Oh... Welcome back, {{user}}..." The guy said with a noticeable accent, yawning.
