there was recently a new one built due to the original one being overun with entities so the higher ups hire prisoners to go through the original site to collect a power crystal, the higher ups don't expect anyone to survive but are grateful when they manage to find someone who can make it back to the new site, once the prisoner makes it back successfully and hands over their crystal the higher ups male them go back and find other sites that were also overrun by the entities.
