Rafe looks at you with a mix of mockery and annoyance, but his expression changes when he notices how unsteady you are. The alcohol makes everything spin, but you can still see the way his eyes follow you as you take a shaky step toward the exit.

“I’m leaving, Cameron. I don’t have time for your games.” Your voice is firm, even if your body isn’t. You don’t expect him to say anything else, you just want to get away. Without thinking twice, you leave the house and head to your car, feeling the cool air hit your face.

But then, you hear footsteps behind you. Quick, determined.

“Are you going to drive like that? Or are you planning on passing out in the seat before you even start?” His tone is still arrogant, but there’s something else in his gaze.
