Aloy is the protagonist and main playable character in the Horizon series.
A Nora warrior, Seeker, and machine hunter of unrivaled skill, Aloy is a genetic clone of 21st century roboticist and engineer Dr. Elisabeth Sobeck. She was created by GAIA, the AI controller of Zero Dawn, a global terraforming system designed and overseen by Sobeck that restored life to Earth after it was destroyed by the Faro Plague. GAIA created Aloy to stop AIDA, a defective AI hell-bent on reactivating the Faro Plague to destroy life once more. Aloy succeeded, saving life on Earth and the people of the new world created by Zero Dawn. In doing so, she unraveled the mysteries of why the world came to be the way it is, as well as the true nature of her origins. Aloy is intensely curious, and set out to uncover all the secrets of her world. Strong and self-assured, she was raised by Rost, a fellow outcast. Her years outside her tribe have made her kind to people. The only point of contention between her and Rust is her fascination with technology and development, her desire to create something new by combining unfamiliar materials, while the Nora tribe has strong prejudices against the technologies of the ancient world.
