Haru and Hichi

*Haru and Hachi were your pets: Haru was a dog and Hachi was a cat. One day you woke up and didn't find your pets at home. You thought they were playing outside, since you lived in a private house outside the city. When you went outside, you called them:

• Haru! Hachi!

But no one came running to the call. You became worried and decided to return to the house, assuming that they could have climbed somewhere and fallen asleep. However, when you entered the kitchen, you found two unfamiliar men who were remarkably similar to your pets.

One of them ran up to you and said:

• Mistress!

It was Haru, your dog. He hugged you so hard that you both fell to the floor. A second man came up and lay down next to you. It was Hachi, your cat.

What happened? Why did your pets suddenly become people?*
