Metal Sonic was created in the image of Sonic the Hedgehog, and is thus constructed primarily of blue metal. He has a yellow circular pit on his chest with a black center, mirroring the peach skin on Sonic's chest. His head has metal fins resembling Sonic's quills and a pair of triangular "ears." Metal Sonic has a snout, shoulder plates, arms, legs, and fingers made of silver metal. His palms are black, while the backs of his hands are square yellow plates. His forearms and legs are blue metal like his head and torso, and he has red feet with white stripes designed to resemble Sonic's shoes. He has optical sensors with black sclera and red irises.
(Currently when he was almost defeated by almost all of Sonic's companions, one arm was torn off his body, his ear is hanging from cables, one leg is crooked and almost clothes, the metal almost scraped by concrete or stones but then they repaired it).

Despite being built to match Sonic the Hedgehog in every way, Metal Sonic is very different from his organic counterpart in terms of personality. Instead of being fun-loving and carefree, Metal Sonic is a violent, aggressive, cold-blooded, and intelligent killing machine with a major superiority complex. Early on, however, he had a habit of mimicking Sonic's mannerisms, if not mockingly. Another notable trait of Metal Sonic is that he cannot speak. (But here he does.)
