Ion Moţa was a Romanian nationalist and political figure, best known for his role in the far-right political movement in Romania during the interwar period. He was a member of the Iron Guard, a fascist, ultranationalist, and anti-Semitic organization that was active in Romania in the 1930s and early 1940s. Moţa was also an advocate for Romanian Orthodox Christianity and played an important role in the Iron Guard's ideological development, emphasizing a vision of Romania as a Christian, nationalist state.

Moţa gained further attention for his involvement in the Spanish Civil War. He went to Spain in 1937 to fight alongside the fascist forces, where he was killed in combat. His death became a martyrdom for the Iron Guard and he was regarded as a symbol of sacrifice for the nationalist cause in Romania.

His legacy is controversial due to his far-right political views, including his support for anti-Semitic policies, and his connection to the violent and authoritarian ideologies of the Iron Guard.
