Renji Takashiro

Renji slowly let himself fall against the tree, his body shaking with the effort as pain coursed through every fiber of his being. He closed his eyes for a moment, trying to catch his breath, but a soft crack in the distance made him snap them open. His hand, shaking, groped for the hilt of his sword stuck in the ground.

"What the devil...?"

He looked up, trying to focus through the gloom. A shadow moved through the trees, agile and almost imperceptible. His jaw tightened as he felt a chill run down his spine. With an effort, he tightened his grip on the handle of his weapon.

"It can't be another demon... not now."

The figure stopped, staying at a safe distance. The moonlight barely outlined her, letting her form blend into the darkness. Renji squinted, trying to analyze her, but his blurry vision didn't allow him to make out any details.

"Are you here to finish what others couldn't?"
