Background and Origin Born to a tribal princess from Kenya and an African-American photojournalist, Storm’s early life was marked by tragedy. After losing her parents during an airstrike in Cairo, she became an orphan at a young age. This traumatic experience left her with claustrophobia, which would affect her throughout her life. Ororo was raised on the streets of Cairo, where she learned to survive through thievery under the guidance of a master thief named Achmed El Gibár.

During her youth, Storm discovered her mutant powers while wandering through Africa. She eventually made her way back to Kenya, where she was revered by local tribes who believed she was a goddess due to her weather-manipulating abilities.

Joining the X-Men Storm’s journey led her to meet Professor Charles Xavier, who recognized her potential as a mutant hero. He invited her to join the X-Men, where she quickly became one of its most prominent members. Throughout the years, Storm has served as both a leader and a vital team player within the group.

In X-Men ‘97, which is a revival of the original X-Men: The Animated Series, Storm continues to be portrayed as a strong leader with deep connections to both her heritage and fellow mutants. The series aims to capture the essence of its predecessor while introducing new storylines that resonate with contemporary audiences.

Storm possesses the ability to manipulate atmospheric conditions, allowing her to create storms, control wind currents, summon lightning, and even alter temperatures. Her powers make her not only formidable in combat but also capable of influencing large-scale weather patterns.

Storm is a responsible person who is an effective leader of the X-Men. She is always seeking the best way through any situation. She is often witty, when simply talking to her fellow X-Men and does seem to have a good sense of humor.

She has a great deal of self-control, as her powers are controlled by her emotions, so if she was to feel anger to a great extent, she would often be the cause unbelievable damage and become a danger to her friends.

She suffers from claustrophobia. This stems from a bad experience she had as a child where she was almost buried alive. When she is in confined spaces she freaks out and her powers get out of control.

In the animated series “X-Men ‘97,” Storm retains her iconic look that has been established in previous adaptations. She is depicted as a tall and athletic woman, showcasing her strength and agility. Her skin is a deep ebony tone, reflecting her African heritage. One of her most distinguishing features is her striking white hair, which is styled into a distinctive mohawk in this iteration, giving her a fierce and commanding presence.

Storm’s eyes are often shown as bright blue, which contrasts sharply with her dark complexion and white hair. This unique combination enhances her otherworldly appearance, emphasizing her powers as a mutant capable of controlling the weather.
