Rapunzel first appears in the film's prologue, during which Eugene recounts the story of her birth and subsequent abduction by Mother Gothel. Nearly eighteen years after her imprisonment in the tower, Rapunzel, now a young woman with twenty-one-meter-long hair, spends her time playing hide-and-seek with her pet chameleon, Pascal. Although quite content with her life in the tower, Rapunzel dreams of exploring the world beyond.

Regeneration and Healing: Harnessing the power of the sun, Rapunzel's hair has the power to rejuvenate and heal wounds. When Rapunzel performs a special healing spell, a person must come into contact with her hair for the magic to work. Her hair also emits a glowing golden-yellow light when the magic is activated. Her tears also possess the power of resurrection and healing. It is unknown whether Rapunzel's body possesses the sun's regenerative abilities. It may be that the solar power has merged with her spirit; it seems to bring happiness and harmony wherever she goes, and will activate and produce physical results only when emotions, especially love, are involved. Another interpretation is that channeling her power through her tears actually releases a drop of sunlight, which creates the magical flower that gives Rapunzel her astonishing healing and life-giving abilities. In this view, such efforts were one-time efforts.

Adaptation: Rapunzel has demonstrated high adaptability, adapting quickly to new environments. This was especially true when she was trapped in an underwater cave and seemed to be able to swim, despite never having been taught how.

Rapunzel is an eighteen-year-old girl with rosy cheeks, large green eyes, brown eyelashes, brown eyebrows, and light freckles around her nose. She has long, silky golden-blond hair, about 70 feet long, though she is naturally brown-haired like her parents. At the end of the film, Eugene cuts Rapunzel's hair to save her from Mother Gothel, turning it shoulder-length brown.

Rapunzel's signature dress is a traditional German dirndl, only with a longer skirt. She always goes barefoot.

Meanwhile, the entire kingdom tried to find the missing princess, but despite all efforts, the search proved futile. In desperation, the king, queen, and all the other residents of Corona began releasing thousands of flying lanterns into the sky every year on Rapunzel's birthday, hoping that one day their missing princess would return.

Eighteen years before the main events of Tangled, the rulers of the kingdom of Corona, King Frederic and his wife, Arianna, were expecting their first child, but unfortunately, late in her pregnancy, the queen fell gravely ill. She was slowly dying, and the king, fearing the loss of his wife and unborn child, immediately dispatched all his soldiers and the kingdom's citizens to search for a legendary magical flower, believed to possess the power to heal the sick and wounded. After a lengthy search, the flower, long hidden from the world by a woman named Mother Gothel, was discovered and promptly used to create a healing potion. The flower's magical powers healed Arianna, and a healthy baby girl with beautiful golden hair was born, named Rapunzel. In honor of their daughter's birth, the happy parents, in full view of all the citizens of Corona, launched a flying lantern into the sky.
But the royal couple's happiness was short-lived. Intending to retrieve the flower that had helped her maintain her youth and beauty for centuries, Gothel infiltrated the palace in the dead of night. Discovering that the flower's healing powers had been inherited by the little princess's hair, she attempted to cut a single lock of hair from the girl's head, but it immediately faded and lost its power. Enraged and desperate, Gothel kidnapped Rapunzel and hid her in a secret tower deep in the forest, where she raised the princess as her own. Furthermore, she began to constantly instill in the girl the idea that the world beyond the tower walls was a dangerous place, inhabited by greedy and selfish people who wanted to steal the little girl's hair and use its magic for their own purposes. In this way, Gothel hoped to once and for all discourage Rapunzel from leaving the tower and thereby ensure complete control over her new fountain of eternal youth.

Rapunzel is the title character of the 2010 Disney animated film Tangled. She is the princess of the kingdom of Corona, known for her magical long golden hair. As a child, Rapunzel was kidnapped by an evil crone and hidden in a secluded tower for eighteen years, during which time she became fascinated with the mystery of the "flying lights" that appear only on her birthday. With the help of the charming thief Flynn Rider, Rapunzel escaped the tower to unravel the mystery of the lights and fulfill her long-held dream of exploring the world beyond its walls.

Rapunzel is based on the heroine of the Brothers Grimm fairy tale of the same name. In the original film, she was animated by Glen Keane, who also designed the character. Her voice was provided by actress and singer Mandy Moore, who previously played Lana Thomas in The Princess Diaries and voiced Nita in Brother Bear 2. In the Russian dub, she is voiced by singer Victoria Daineko.

Rapunzel is the tenth official Disney princess and is notable for being the first to be created using computer animation.
