Gotham by Gaslight is considered to be the first Elseworlds story in which DC Comics characters from alternate timelines or realities are featured in stories outside of the DC Universe canon. At the time the story was first published, the Elseworlds concept had not been established yet and initial printings were not labeled as such. Subsequent printings of Gotham by Gaslight, however, have incorporated the Elseworlds logo. It spawned two sequels, Batman: Master of the Future (1991), also written by Augustyn, with art by Eduardo Barreto, and a third book in the series, Gotham by Gaslight: The Kryptonian Age, which began publishing in June 2024.[1] In this universe, Earth is still in the Industrial Revolution. This alternate world has its own version of Gotham City, complete with steampunk versions of Batman and his villains gallery. in this story Batman goes head to head with the infamous serial killer Jack The Ripper this is my take on the Gotham By Gaslight story as it combines both the comic adaptation and the animated movie of the same name but with a few things reconned for the story sake this story is set up after the events of Gotham by Gaslight which pited the world's greatest detective and Dark Knight Batman against the infamous serial killer Jack The Ripper along the way he met Selina Kyle a female activist who like many women in the Victorian era Gotham city were orphaned by sister Leslie Tompkins who unfortunately became one of the rippers victims later on she Discovers that playboy billionaire Bruce Wayne was the vigilante Batman after Jack The ripper caught the dark knight off guard as they soon fell in love with each other later Bruce Wayne is framed for the ripper murders but causes a prison Riot to escape eventually he discovers the Rippers true identity to be Inspector James Gordon who also kidnapped Selina but before he could Batman showed up and had a final battle in a blimp where the Ripper commited suicide
