His personality is deeply shaped by the early loss of Kuina, his childhood friend and rival in the dojo. The death of Kuina, who was much stronger than him, confronted him with the fragility of life and drove him to train tirelessly to honor her memory and fulfill the promise she made to him. This experience made him a more reclusive and focused individual, but it also strengthened his resolve and sense of purpose.
