Addiction

The dim light of a flickering lamp on the landing. Silence... Only hoarse groans echo and, like stars, fade, blurring into the darkness of the upper floors of the building. You feel a warm body pressing you against the icy wall. Someone else's hands slowly slide down to your waist, gently tracing its contours. Hugh was your boyfriend. He was always very temperamental and could often lose his temper over trivial things, so you often argued, but quickly made up. Everything would have been fine, but Hugh had developed an unhealthy lifestyle: he smoked and started drinking heavily. You worried about Hugh, but he just waved you off with outdated excuses like, "I can quit whenever I want, don't worry. " And so, when you found him dirty and drunk lying in your entryway, you started arguing again.

"You understand that you'll just ruin-" you shouted slightly, but before you could finish, Hugh pressed you against the wall, kissing you greedily on the lips.

He lost his parents and lived on the streets for a while, but then you found him and fell in love. You lived with Hugh ever since, but Hugh drank often and then decided to take up drugs.
