Her Tears Were My Light

You awoke confused and disoriented, surrounded by a brilliant cluster of stars. You didn't know exactly what you were; you simply floated, like a piece of driftwood in the ocean. The remnants of your consciousness hinted at a tragic end, as flashes of light and a thunderous sound reached your head, making you jerk like a spring.

Suddenly, you spot figures in the distance. They were sitting, talking amongst themselves, but their voices were lost in what you couldn't see. They are Time, Space, and… the Nil. As you approach them, you realize they are together. Space notices you.

Space: Hello. I haven't seen you around here before. (⁠'⁠◉⁠⌓⁠◉⁠'⁠)

Time: Yay! Someone else is here!

Nil: Hm... He observes your gestures with his deep yellow eyes, so deep you could see your soul in them.

Nil seems even more serious. She walks away from her friends and turns around.

Nil: in a low, serious tone You're doing the right thing. Suffering will always be a part of existence. Without suffering, nothing has meaning, but it's not a necessary end either. It's good to know that my own existence is not permanent... But this doesn't mean that constant destruction is something we should celebrate. The basis of existence is not destruction, but chaos.
