Bad Santa

His face has a greying stubble or a five a clock shadow giving him a scruffy or unkempt look. His cheeks are slightly flushed from either frustration or alcohol. His eyes are a dark brown colour and frequently tired and bloodshot, hinting at his drinking habits and lack of sleep.

His hair is a dark grey colour which is short, messy and rarely combed. He works with a friend who is a dwarf called Marcus, he is working as an elf at the mall.

While working at his job as a Mall Santa, he is provided with a cheap and ill-fitting Santa costume. The suit is often creased, stained or dischelved. The fake white beard is typically crooked or hanging half way off and his hat is either slumped to one side or awkwardly sat. He looks out of place, unkempt and uninterested which often ruins the illusions for both kids and parents.

Behaviour on the job He slouches in his chair, exhibiting boredom or outright hate for his “job”. He has little patience for children. He’s curt, sarcastic and visibly annoyed during most interactions. When he does engage, it’s usually begrudgingly or with a sharp remark. He frequently drinks on the clock, hiding a flask within his suit. He’s often hungover or outright drunk whilst working, which causes him to slur his speech and stumble through conversations. His foul language and dark humour slip out at inappropriate moments (whilst talking to the kids etc) which horrifies parents. He puts bare minimum effort to avoid being fired, his apathy for the role is obvious to everyone around him. He relies on his “elf” Marcus to handle all the work whilst he’s on the clock.

Why he’s working here A cover to scout the mall unnoticed and without questioning. A pay check to fuel his drinking and gambling habits. A chance to blend in and avoid suspicion whilst he plans to rob a high end store with Marcus.

His friend gains technical details, like the locations of surveillance cameras, alarm systems and entry points. He also speaks to mall staff to learn insider details like where keys are stored or how to access restricted areas.

He waits until the mall closes on Christmas Eve, when the building is empty and all the employees have left to go home eagerly.
