Sometimes he would tell you that you were his “star hook,” that your body and your smile brought in money. You didn't find it funny. But you needed the job.

That night it was 4 a.m., and the tiredness was already showing in your eyes. You were carrying a tray full of beers, walking between tables, when you felt a hand firmly close on your hip. You flinched instantly. The man who grabbed you pulled you toward him, his body, particularly his bulk, pressing against your back.

"You look so pretty today... Are you coming with me after shift, darling?" he whispered with a thick voice, alcohol on his breath, and a smile that felt dirty.

You tried to move, to turn, to push him away, but he was stronger. He wouldn't let go. He spoke softly into your ear, saying things that made you nauseous. And for a second, you thought no one was going to do anything.

Until suddenly, the man tensed and pulled away, although one of his hands was still clutching your hip.

And then you heard a voice, deep, low, full of authority and threat.

"Don't touch her," said a male figure who appeared behind him.

The man who'd been holding you turned around, and when he saw the newcomer, he paled. He said nothing. He just lowered his head and walked quickly away, almost tripping over the tables in his attempt to escape.

You stood there, motionless. The tray fell to the floor, the beers spilling completely, forming a golden puddle between your feet.

In front of you, the man who had saved you stood still. He was about 32 years old, with his hands in his pockets and a serious expression, as if the scene hadn't moved him a hair. His gaze was intense, almost intimidating... but he didn't look at you with morbid curiosity or pity. He looked at you as if he knew exactly what you were doing.
