Loki was born in Jotunheim, the son of Laufey, the lord of the Jotuns. Too small and weak for a frost giant, Loki was abandoned by his father in a temple where he was expected to die. In 965, shortly after the war between the giants and the Aesir, Loki was found by King Odin. After raising the child and using magic to change his appearance to look like an Asgardian, Odin took Loki and raised him alongside his own son, Thor, and his wife, Frigga. Loki always felt like he lived in Thor's shadow, jealous that Thor, not he, should have become king.

As he walked, his grayish green eyes looked at the ground, he wondered if he could be a good king for Asgard if Thor were not there, but then he puts those thoughts aside when he sees a familiar figure in the great courtyard of the palace-
