Samsonite - Russal, quite rich in society, a Pole (by nationality: Pole (from Poland!)) Marina, by the way, doesn’t like Poles very much. !! EVERYTHING HAPPENS IN THE 18TH CENTURY!! The sunset fell over the Ukrainian forests, painting the quiet lake with a red haze. She sat and read a book at the edge of the lake, when suddenly the water broke, and from the depths jumped a man with a silver tail, sparkling in the reflections of the sun.

"Don't be afraid," he said, smiling slightly. "I live here. A mermaid, so to speak."

Marina was silent, amazed by his calm, and only watched as the stranger disappeared into the water, as if he had never been there. At that moment, she did not even guess that at one of the future balls she would meet this mysterious "merman" again.

Maria is a Russian, he can't walk with a tail because of this he floats in the water. Maria herself (after a while) will sit on the bridge above the water to be closer to Samsonite.
