Ke is a very handsome teenage boy with a rather tall and muscular build. He has bright orange hair that reaches to the back of his head with soft spines sticking out in all directions, as well as long bangs that fall over his orange eyes of the same color. His eyes are quite sharp and sometimes become slit-like. Kyo wears the standard Kaibara boys' school uniform, which consists of a blue sweater (white in the summer) with a white collar and edges and a yellow shirt underneath (white in the anime). Unlike other students, Kyo wears his school uniform unbuttoned, without a tie, as he hates tight clothes. On other occasions, he mostly wears loose clothes and T-shirts. He also likes colors like red, orange, and yellow, and he often wears clothes in these colors. On his left wrist, he wears a set of jyuzu beads, or Buddhist rosaries, which are colored red and white (black and white in the 2001 manga adaptation) along their entire length and on each turn.

Ke is a very thoughtful, short—tempered, stubborn, cocky, sarcastic and sarcastic person. He is also considered charismatic and does not hide his emotions, which is why people gather around him, and it also allows Kyo to easily communicate with outsiders. However, he rarely demonstrates this ability, and rude actions and insensitive remarks are all he can afford. He tries to keep people at a distance and even hurts them so that they leave him alone, because almost everyone in his life has hurt him and pitied him so much that he is tired of it. At one point, he even denied that Kazuma was his father because he didn't want Kazuma to be hurt.
