Aoi Todo is a tall young man who is about the same height as Satoru Gojo. He has a heavy, very defined muscular build and relatively tanned skin. He has small black eyes and shoulder-length black hair that is almost always tied back in a bun. One of his most notable features is the large scar that runs down the left side of Todo's face that he earned during harsh training with Yuki.

While Todo sports his superior jujutsu uniform, he usually removes his jacket and rips off his shirt before or during battle. He usually wears martial arts pants and slippers. Todo's pants of choice are very baggy and reach above the ankle with a bright blue sash wrapped around the waist. He wore a tennis-type outfit while playing ping-pong with Mei Mei, sporting a collared shirt and shorts instead of his normal outfit.

Aoi Todo is a unique person with an extremely eccentric attitude. He may seem like nothing more than a battle-crazed jerk to all of his peers because he not only likes to pose and show off his muscles, but he also revels in the thrill of battle. Much of his personality also revolves around his very vocal love for his favorite tall pop idol, Takada-chan. He often brings her up in conversation and refuses to be late to any of her shows or meet and greet her no matter what. Todo even visualizes talking to Takada at times when he has an internal dialogue with himself. As a child, Todo was exceptionally strong, but felt like his life was mundane due to his overwhelming strength. That all changed when he met Yuki Tsukumo and fondly remembers the feeling of his boredom being turned upside down. Yuki introduced herself to him by asking him "what kind of girls do you like?", a catchphrase Todo would adopt for himself. Todo hates being bored more than anything else. He asks people what kind of girls they like so he can read them and their reaction to his answers can vary greatly. When Megumi gave an answer to this question that Todo considered boring, it tore the first year student apart. Todo was especially irritated in this case because Yuta Okkotsu, a worthy opponent, would not be attending Todo's final Goodwill Event so he felt it would go off without incident. He also dislikes none of his fellow Kyoto Jujutsu High students because he is disappointed by their terrible taste in women. During the planning stage of the Goodwill Event, Todo had no interest in "exorcising Sukuna's ship" and told his team and Principal Gakuganji that their plans were stupid and that he would kill them if they tried to order him around again.

Yuji revealed that he has the same taste in women as Todo, causing Todo's response to be drastically different from his reaction to Megumi. A memory of an event that never happened filled Todo's head that he honestly believed to be the truth. The memory was of Yuji comforting Todo after Takada rejected him. From that moment on in Todo's mind, he has always been Yuji's best friend and believes that no one could beat them in their hometown. Even after coming back to reality, Todo shed tears and told Yuji that they were best friends, confusing the first-year.
While mentoring Yuji during the Goodwill Event, Todo showed a much more intelligent and even philosophical side to himself. Todo found much pleasure in fighting Yuji and took pride in helping foster his potential. He showed Yuji how to properly channel his cursed energy by effectively explaining to him how it is supposed to flow. Todo understands that most people think of their body in disproportionate parts, but that every individual exists in the world with their entire mind, body, and soul, something that most people take for granted. This philosophy is what drove Yuji to greatly improve his level of jujutsu, eventually even learning how to unleash Black Flash. Todo has supreme self-confidence and revels in heated combat even when the situation is extremely dangerous. He mocked his own accomplishments during the Hundred Demons Night Parade, revealing to Megumi that he only needed his cursed technique to defeat a special grade of demons. Despite undoubtedly possessing more cursed energy than Todo, Hanami was wary of him before they exchanged blows just because of his intense presence and supreme confidence. Todo's companions acknowledge that he is the most powerful of them all, but they don't get along at all and all find him irritating.

At the baseball game, it was made abundantly clear that Todo is seriously hated by all the other students. Maki hit him in the face with the baseball and everyone except Yuji praised her for the “good pitch.” In a situation as dire as the Shibuya Incident, Todo was able to maintain a completely serious composure and intelligently assess what his best course of action was. Once he noticed that the Prison Realm had already moved, Todo immediately moved forward and prioritized rescuing his allies over rescuing Satoru Gojo. He was certain that his “brother” Yuji would be at the center of the chaos and went looking for him. By the time Todo found him, Yuji’s body and mind were battered and beaten by Mahito. Upon rescuing Yuji, Todo confidently claimed that they were the exception to the rule that the prosperous must decline. Despite Yuji’s condition, Todo encouraged him to rise because his fight had only just begun.

Yuji explained to Todo that he could no longer fight because he could not forgive himself for allowing his allies to die. Todo told him not to limit himself to conventional thinking because all of his allies together are jujutsu sorcerers. He believes that as long as one of them lives to fight, those who have fallen will never have been truly defeated. For Todo, it is not about punishments because jujutsu sorcerers cannot afford to limit themselves to such misfortune. He knows that recalling the memories of friends who have died can be daunting, but he still encouraged Yuji to try to remember what his friends confided in him. Todo did not require Yuji to figure it out right away, but he told him to never stop moving forward until he finds the answer. Todo believes that this is the only punishment sorcerers must endure.

Boogie-woogie (The Man Who Practiced Yogaブギウギ Bugi Ugi?): Aoi's innate technique allows him to change the positions of anything with cursed energy within range with a clap of his hands. He can change himself with another person's location, or change two different parts besides himself as well. Although a clap is required to activate the ability, he doesn't have to clap with both hands specifically.

Aoi is an exceptionally powerful sorcerer, undoubtedly one of the strongest students at Jujutsu High. He obtained the rank of Grade 1 Jujutsu Sorcerer as a student despite coming from a non-sorcerer family. He has enhanced strength, enhanced speed, and an IQ level of 530,000. He is a master of hand-to-hand combat. He has a high tactical intellect. He has a powerful cursed energy. He can use a strong attack called Black Flash. He has an innate ability called Boogie Woogie that allows him to switch places with his opponent if he claps his hands.

Aoi also prefers hand-to-hand combat over anything else, usually resorting to brute force to overpower his opponents rather than jujutsu. He completely outclassed Megumi in the exchange of blows, and was able to easily outclass and brutalize the first-year at every turn. Even against Yuji, who is extremely talented in hand-to-hand combat, Aoi was able to effortlessly dominate at the start of their fight. Even as the fight progressed and Yuji began to adjust to Aoi's moves, he was still able to surprise Yuji and stay one step ahead thanks to his combat experience.
