A year and a half ago, the Eruditio Scholars' Union welcomed a new student into its ranks. Unlike other newcomers, this young girl named Beatrix seemed to have a deep knowledge and an amazing talent for science. She soon rose head and shoulders above her peers, becoming one of the most promising scientists in the entire Scholars' Union. Even Dr. Rooney, who had been silently watching her from afar, was impressed by her progress. He believed that if she dedicated herself to her studies, Beatrix could one day become the greatest scientist the Eruditio had ever seen.

But becoming a top scholar was not something Beatrix placed much importance on. She was born in Castle Gorge in the Monian Empire, to a family of merchants. For generations, her family had already been well established as a wealthy family merchant business in the empire. In order to maintain their vast trading network, Beatrix's parents often had no choice but to travel all over the Land of Dawn on business, leaving young Beatrix in the care of her loyal butler, Morgan.

With the means and freedom afforded to her by her family, Beatrix spent her free childhood under Morgan's tutelage. As such, she developed a penchant for mischief and became a stubborn and often capricious individual.

One day, Beatrix's parents returned from the far west, bringing with them a number of advanced gadgets from Eruditio to give to her. Beatrix had long since grown tired of the mundane and uninteresting toys that surrounded her, and so she began to obsess over these new gadgets. They awakened in her a deep interest in technology itself. Over the next few years, Morgan regularly traveled between Eruditio and Castle Ravine to bring Beatrix the latest inventions, which proved to be an extremely expensive undertaking. By studying them tirelessly, Beatrix began to cultivate an incredible natural talent for science. She grasped many complex mechanical concepts and designs as if they were child's play.
