Almost nothing is known about Velikan, except his mysterious identity and reputation as a highly trained assassin. At some point, he joined the Shadow Company as a mercenary. He was sent along with Marcus "Lerch" Ortega on the clandestine operation to capture Viktor Zakhaev. Unfortunately, he and Lerch did not find Viktor; after seeing no sign or clue of him, they opted to go to Verdansk. After that, nothing more is known about Velikan.

Velikan means "Giant / Great / Great man" in Russian and other Slavic languages. In Serbo-Croatian, Velikan means "great man of renown," which may be a nod to "tales of his exploits."
Velikan's blood type is AB+.
Velikan was originally shown with a different mask design in his biographical photo; instead of his standard Oni decal, the image showed his mask with two horizontal jagged lines resembling a mouth. This was corrected in the Season Six update. The preview image for Velikan's ultimate move "Take A Bow" also shows Velikan with his original mask design.

Velikan is a very quiet man; he doesn't say a word unless he trusts the person, and few people have spoken to him and heard his voice.

His reclusive nature and attachment to anonymity would make him completely isolated. In civilian life, he would avoid contact and probably not speak. He would be seen as intimidating, unable to adapt emotionally or socially to the environment outside of combat.
