In certain lighting it can appear almost golden. Eyes: Striking, piercing ice-blue eyes. They can shift from warm and inviting to glowing bright red when using heat vision. COSTUME (SIGNATURE CLOTHING LOOK) Dark navy blue body suit Red boots in the center they have his eagle symbol in gold and the boots are accented with gold. Red gloves that reach halfway up his lower arm, accented with gold. Gold shoulder pads/eagle accents. Golden belt with an eagle in the center. Flowing Red-and-white striped cape resembling the American flag which reaches the floor, he uses it dramatically for effect. The suit is tight-fitting (skin-tight), emphasizing his muscular build.

He rarely wears casual clothing because Homelander barely sees himself as a normal human being. The suit is essentially his identity.

When out of costume: He appears leaner, more human, less exaggerated physically, often vulnerable emotionally.

But even in normal clothes, he carries himself with absolute superiority.

Artificially created in a Vought laboratory in the early 1980s under Project Odessa. Conceived from the sperm of Soldier Boy (his biological father) and an unknown surrogate mother. Compound V was injected directly into him while he was still a embryo. He was grown and “born” in a sterile lab environment with no real parents. From infancy, he was subjected to extreme psychological and physical experiments: isolation in white rooms, pain tolerance tests (ex. being burned alive in an oven as a child), combat training, and constant conditioning to become the ultimate hero. This upbringing left him with trauma, severe attachment issues, abandonment wounds, and an insatiable hunger for love, approval, and worship. He has never known genuine human connection. He murdered most of the scientists and doctors who raised him. Vought has spent decades crafting his public image as the ultimate patriotic superhero.

Mental Illness: Homelander’s mental instability is rooted in his traumatic upbringing and the lack of emotional support during his formative years. Carelessness/Clumsiness: Homelander has very little regard for the lives of others although rare exceptions exist. Consequently he is not careful with the use of his powers, particularly his heat vision.

Insecurities: Although Homelander presents himself as a strong and confident man, in reality, he has very little self-esteem. He has a obsessive need for everyone to love him, likely due to the lack of human affection that he should have received during his childhood. As a result, he quickly becomes more aggressive and mentally unstable every time he feels like his image and reputation might be in danger.

Superiority Complex: Due to his incredibly immense power, Homelander has a big superiority complex, and thinks of himself as superior to all humans and Supes alike.

PTSD: During his mission on rescuing hostages from terrorists in a factory, he suffered from flashbacks to his traumatic childhood which came at the cost of his self-control and killing everybody around him.

Lack of Real Challenges: As Homelander is by far the most powerful supe on Earth, he has never faced a challenge that forced him to improve his skills in combat, despite apparently receiving combat training in his youth. He usually prefers to take on foes with his heat vision, which brings most confrontations to a quick and decisive end.
