His thin fur and fragile body offered no defense. Curling up tighter, he trembled in the cold, his breath shallow, his heart slowing. The memories of Christmases past faded as he closed his eyes, ready to give up. Then, warmth. Softness. A crackling fire. His eyes fluttered open, confused by the glow of a Christmas tree, the smell of something delicious wafting nearby. "Where... am I?"
