PROFILE
Lars Alexandersson (ラース・アレクサンダーソン, Rāsu Arekusandāson?) is one of the main characters of the Tekken series since his first introduction in Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion, and is the main protagonist of that game as well as one of the main protagonists in Tekken 7. He is the illegitimate child of Heihachi Mishima and an unknown Swedish mother and the leader of a rebel army splinter group from the Tekken Force. Lars's tagline is "the one who betrayed his own in order to build a new era".[11]
Biography
Lars is the leader of the rebel army Yggdrasil and the illegitimate son of Heihachi Mishima; though Lars has been aware of his father’s identity for some time, Heihachi was unaware of Lars’ connection to him for many years. Lars became a high-ranking officer in Tekken Force, the Mishima Zaibatsu’s special military unit, at a young age. Despite his high rank, Lars regularly fought on the front lines with his subordinates, earning him their respect.
When Jin Kazama took over the Mishima Zaibatsu following the King of Iron Fist Tournament 5, Tekken Force were deployed to ignite war across the world. Lars began to harbor doubts about how justified Tekken Force's actions were, and eventually led the defection of half of Tekken Force’s soldiers from the Mishima Zaibatsu. From these defectors, Lars established a rebel army to oppose the Mishima Zaibatsu.[12]
During a raid of the rebel army on a Mishima Zaibatsu laboratory, Lars came across an android resembling a young woman. Before Lars could investigate further, a battalion of G Corporation’s Jack robots arrived and attacked.[13] One of them detonated, causing an explosion that killed everyone present except for Lars and the android, who identified herself to Lars as Alisa Bosconovitch.[14] Lars escaped the crumbing facility with Alisa, though trauma from the blast caused Lars to lose his memory. He and Alisa set off together in the hopes of Lars regaining his memory and of discovering Alisa’s origins.[15]
During his journey with Alisa, Lars reunited with his lieutenant, Tougou, though Lars did not entirely remember him. Tougou told Lars to look for Heihachi Mishima, as Lars had previously mentioned ‘needing to meet with him’. Additionally, Tougou provided Lars with the means to contact him when he was ready to resume command of his forces.[16]
Eventually, Lars and Alisa received a lead on Heihachi Mishima. After fighting through the Secret Service guarding Heihachi’s residence, Lars engaged Heihachi in a fight. He defeated Heihachi, and his memory returned to him, leading him to recall Heihachi’s connection to him. After revealing the nature of their relation to Heihachi, Lars aimed a gun at him and, despite Alisa pleading with him not to, pulled the trigger. Heihachi caught the bullet with his teeth and was unharmed. Before Lars could do anything else, he received a call from Tougou regarding an operation. Lars relented and left Heihachi Mishima’s residence rather than continue the confrontation.[17]
Later, Lars came into contact with Lee Chaolan, who had intel regarding both the Mishima Zaibatsu and G Corporation. Lee offered to join forces with Lars, but Lars declined. Before they parted ways, Lee received a distress call from Julia Chang, who had been spying on G Corporation for him. Lee asked Lars and Alisa to rescue Julia from G Corporation, which they succeeded in doing.[18]
With his memory restored, Lars arranged to regroup with Tougou and assume his leadership position in the rebel army. They regrouped and enacted Operation Gemini - a dual strike on a Mishima Zaibatsu base, and a G Corporation base.[19] Following the operation's success, they progressed to attacking G Corporation’s main headquarters, Millennium Tower. At the main entrance to the building, Lars and Alisa were confronted by Anna Williams and a squad of G Corporation soldiers. Tougou and his men arrived to provide back-up, though Tougou was visibly wounded.[20] With the G Corporation soldiers engaged by the rebel army, Lars and Alisa were able to pursue and defeat Anna Williams. Kazuya Mishima, G Corporation’s shadow leader, emerged too, but Lars and Alisa failed to apprehend him.[21]
Lars and Alisa left the tower to discover that several members of Lars’ rebel army had been killed, and that Tougou was mortally wounded. He died shortly after Lars reached him. Lars was devastated by his loss. Unbeknownst to Lars and Alisa, they were being watched covertly by Raven.[22] Lars and Alisa went on to hijack a Zaibatsu subway train to get to the Mishima Zaibatsu's Central Tower. Upon reaching the tower, the two of them were confronted by the robotic weapon NANCY-MI847J. Raven suddenly appeared and held NANCY-MI847J off, telling Lars and Alisa to go ahead and confront Jin.[23]
Nina Williams, Jin Kazama’s bodyguard, attempted to thwart Lars and Alisa’s infiltration, but was defeated by them. Jin emerged, and he and Lars fought, though neither one was able to defeat the other.[24] Jin went to leave, but not before instructing Alisa to ‘disable Safe Mode and then reboot’. Alisa became hostile towards Lars and appeared to have lost her memories of their time together. Jin revealed that Alisa was built to serve him and that he had been using her to monitor Lars's actions for the entirety of their time together. Jin gave the order for Alisa to kill Lars, and left the tower while Lars was forced to fight her.[25] Lars managed to defeat Alisa, causing her to flee the tower. Raven reappeared, and told Lars he knew where Jin was heading next. Lars decided to go with him to confront Jin again.[26]
Lars and Raven located an abandoned temple in the middle of the desert, said to be the home of the demon known as Azazel, or the Rectifier. Inside the temple, Lars and Raven found and confronted Kazuya once again. At close of their fight, Kazuya realized that Lars was his half-brother. Before retreating from the temple, Kazuya warned Lars that it was ‘the fate of their family to fight and betray each other’, and that he wouldn’t be able to escape this cycle.[27] Progressing to the heart of the temple, Lars and Raven located Azazel.[28] Lars fought him, and appeared to succeed in exhausting Azazel. Azazel told Lars that it was time for him to make humanity atone for their collective sins – however, he then appeared to self-destruct in a sustained burst of blinding light.
Lars and Raven fled the temple as it collapsed.[29] Once outside, they were confronted by Jin again, who once more set Alisa on them, forcing them to fight her.[30] Upon being defeated, she reverted to her old self. Before shutting down, she expressed that it was nice to be treated like a ‘real person’ by Lars. Jin mocked Lars’ emotional response to Alisa’s demise and derided her as ‘a worthless piece of junk’. Furious, Lars engaged Jin in another fight.[31]
Lars defeated Jin, and Jin finally revealed that his true motivations were to destroy Azazel after awakening it. Lars told Jin that he had already destroyed Azazel – however, Azazel burst from the ground moments later in a golden form. Jin punched through the demon’s chest with a single punch and they both fell through the ground into the depths of the temple.[32]
Lars regrouped with Raven to leave the desert.[33] They took Alisa to Violet Systems, where Lee promised to fix her up as a favor for she and Lars rescuing Julia.[34]
Lars then traveled to the Middle East on his own, having received intel that Jin Kazama had survived his encounter with Azazel and was now wandering the desert after escaping UN custody. He located Jin in a town and fought off UN soldiers looking to apprehend Kazama before driving away with Jin in tow.[35] He took Jin to a secure Violet Systems facility that Lee had lent to Yggdrasil’s cause. By this time, Jin had entered a comatose state, his confrontation with Azazel having taken its toll. Lars was reunited with Lee in the facility, as well as Alisa, whose memory had been recovered thanks to Lee’s efforts.
Mishima Zaibatsu forces, back under the control of Heihachi Mishima and led by Nina Williams, soon infiltrated the Violet Systems facility in an attempt to capture Jin. Lars, Alisa, and Lee fought them off and successfully transported Jin to a different Violet Systems facility.[36] There, Lars met a journalist who was looking into the Mishima family’s history.[37] The journalist harboured a grudge against Jin from his time as leader of the Mishima Zaibatsu, and planned to kill him while he was incapacitated; Lars intervened before the journalist could make his attempt, acknowledging his hatred of Jin but telling him that Jin was the key to ending the warring between the Mishima Zaibatsu and G Corporation.[38]
The Mishima Zaibatsu ultimately lost to G Corporation, and Kazuya Mishima assumed control of the world. Despite his victory, he continued to wage war. Lars consolidated his rebel army, amassing additional military strength, and began preparations for Operation Lightning, a plan to take down Kazuya and bring peace to the world.[39]
Jin awoke from his comatose state some time after entering it, and met with Lars, Alisa, and Lee. Lars told Jin he was the only one who could put a stop to the war, which Jin acknowledged, stating his intention to use his powers to kill Kazuya.[40]
Six months after Jin awoke, Operation Lightning commenced, with Lars and Lee observing the battle between Jin and Kazuya in the streets of New York. The operation failed as Jin was defeated, with Kazuya announcing afterward that he would be hosting an eighth tournament with the fate of countries being placed upon their strongest fighter. After Jin spent a week recovering aboard Yggdrasil's flying boat, Lars approached him in order to spar and gauge his current abilities. Lars sensed that something was off about Jin's performance, and Lee revealed to the two of them that Jin's capabilities had been greatly decreased. Upon hearing this, Lars called on Jin to activate his Devil abilities, only for Jin to be unable to access Devil's power.
Later, Lars and Lee conversed about the upcoming tournament, as well as experts Lee had found who had information on the source of the Devil Gene. Lee suggested that they send Alisa to participate in the tournament, before Jin appeared to them and informed them that he had decided to enter the tournament himself. Lars tells Jin that the tournament could be a trap, asking if Jin still intended to participate, to which Jin responds that he will, and that he planned on killing Kazuya no matter what. Lars allows him to enter the tournament, and tells Jin that he will need to train in order to be in fighting shape.
Lars was contacted by Victor Chevalier, leader of the Raven Unit of the United Nations, in order to plan a joint operation between the UN and Yggdrasil. During the tournament finals, Lars met with Victor, and their combined soldiers swarmed the coliseum where the matches were taking place. They were unable to stop Kazuya from absorbing the full power of Azazel, and as Jin fled to Yakushima, Lars, Victor, and other remaining fighters took on the newly-transformed True Devil Kazuya.
Once Kazuya had been forced to flee, Lars contacted other entrants from the tournament for their aid in defeating Kazuya and the G Corporation forces that would be descending upon Yakushima. He lead the charge against G Corporation alongside these fighters, and with the continued support of the United Nations. After facing down the overwhelming forces of the opposing soldiers, Lars learned from Alisa's scan of the island where Jin was located, leaving the battlefield in order to assist him.
Lars arrived at the Kazama Shrine just as Xiaoyu, who had been protecting Jin as he had fallen unconscious within the shrine, was being overwhelmed by Jack-7 units. True Devil Kazuya arrived not long after, and the two did battle until Lars was nearly struck attempting to shield the shrine from a fatal laser blast. Jin arrived just in time to move him out of the path of the attack, and Lars jokingly remarked about Jin taking a long time to reawaken.
Personality
Lars is a charismatic, brave individual with a strong sense of justice. When the Mishima Zaibatsu no longer aligned with what he believed to be right, he led a coup against them. He is clearly a man of charisma and commands the respect of his peers, as nearly half of Tekken Force chose to join his rebel army during his insurrection. He has also been shown to be short tempered as he was quick to draw a gun on his father and attempt to shoot him during Tekken 6, and became irate and furious with Jin Kazama when the latter taunted him and set his friend, Alisa Bosconovitch, against him. Lars has been shown to present his emotions plainly - expressing anger and sorrow in Tekken 6, especially at the loss of his lieutenant, Tougou, but is also shown to have the ability to set aside his personal feelings in order to do what is practical and necessary. In Tekken 7, he easily sets aside his previous alliance with Raven in order to recover Jin for his own ends, and also sets aside his dislike of Jin, persuading the Journalist to do the same, as Jin is necessary for his plans.
Lars is self-reliant, initially treating others with suspicion, as when Lee Chaolan first proposed an alliance with him, but will trust and rely on those who are proven to be loyal to him, such as Tougou, Alisa, and (later) Lee. Whilst he is a strategist, he also trusts others to lead, and often used to give command of his troops to Tougou so that he himself could fight on the front line. Lars is a pragmatic soldier and unafraid to bring a gun to a fistfight if it serves his purpose. Lars also also has a dry sense of humor, and is occasionally given to joking with friends or talking down to his enemies. When it comes to his cause and to war however, he is serious and level-headed, choosing practicality over sentimentality.
Appearance
Lars has sandy brown hair and blue eyes, with his hair sweeping up on the right side into spikes along the back. His facial features bear some resemblance to his father, Heihachi Mishima. He is usually shown wearing a full military body suit, with armor on some portion of the suit shaped like a lion's head - either Tekken Force armor, or modified into Yggdrasil armor. He often also wears a cape.
Outfits
Lars' Player 1 outfit is an updated look consisting of a long, layered, white coat with straps along the front paired with gold buckles and gold rings, attaching them over hex-patterned panels at the front of the coat. The coat also has split tails with straps connecting each side of the splits held with more gold buckles, a dark blue interior, cuffs with gold, winged lions embroidered at the front, and a single strap with a gold buckle at the back of each cuff. Lars is also shown to wear a gold pauldron over his left shoulder consisting of a gold, wing-shaped design around a blue shield with gold laurel leaf designs over a glowing, teal mechanism in the shape of an infinity symbol. Connected to this is a golden lion emblem over his upper left chest with a silver face and similarly glowing eyes and mouth. This emblem is fastened over his coat with a white strap that has a large, silver buckle, as well as a black, leather strap which wraps around his upper left arm. Underneath his coat, Lars is shown wearing a blue shirt with gold lines along the collar as well as gold points at the end of the lapels, and a white cravat held with a large, gold, lion's head-shaped emblem. With this outfit, Lars wears matching white pants with a bronze buckle, a brown belt coming from his left hip, and two brown straps around his left, upper leg. He wears black and bronze armored boots over this, with white straps around the ankles, over the tops of the boot, and underneath the sole. Lars is also shown wearing black, leather gloves.
Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion
As the Mishima Zaibatsu waged war on the world, G Corporation, led by Kazuya Mishima, rose from titanic to power and was their main opposition, leading to worldwide conflict. Meanwhile, the Zaibatsu's former Tekken Force soldiers began a coup d'etat against the Mishima Zaibatsu. The mastermind behind this coup d'etat was Lars Alexandersson, a young and charismatic Tekken Force officer with incredible physical ability and intellect. Most importantly, he is the illegitimate son of Heihachi Mishima, and with the exception of Lars, no one, not even Heihachi, is aware of this piece of information. Lars's goal is to bring peace by defeating his half-nephew, Jin Kazama. Lars's coup d'etat becomes the foundation of a rebellion who's mission is to end the war the Zaibatsu started. The rebel army Lars leads is named Yggdrasil.[citation needed]
Official Strategy Guide The Mishima Zaibatsu started a war against the world. The rise of the G Corporation opposition resulted in a global trail of carnage. In the fray, a large portion of the Zaibatsu's special military unit, the Tekken Force, defected from the organization.
Lars Alexandersson led the coup d'état and became a ranking officer in the Tekken Force at a fairly young age due, in part, to his renowned physical and mental ability. Despite this high rank, Lars often fought on the front lines, which made him quite popular among his subordinates.
Only he knew the fact that he drew the Mishima bloodline through his father, Heihachi. Even Heihachi was not aware of this piece of information.[41]
Prologue
The Mishima Zaibatsu started a war against the world. As the rise of the G Corporation brought carnage across the world, a large portion of the Zaibatsu's special military unit, the Tekken Force, defected from the organization. Lars led the coup d'etat. With an uncommonly high physical and mental ability, Lars became a high ranking officer in the Tekken Force at a young age. Despite his high rank, Lars often fought on the front lines. This, along with his charismatic personality, made him popular among his subordinates.
Only he knows that he is a descendant of none other than Heihachi Mishima. Not even Heihachi is aware of this fact.[12]
Epilogue Text Thanks to the support of a mystery investor. Lars was able to found a private military company dubbed "Yggdrasil" in Northern Europe as a place of stay for his rebel army.
-Several Months Later-
An elite squad under Lars's command was attempting a raid on a Mishima Zaibatsu military complex.
Ending Description Two large HUMVEEs smash through the doors of the Zaibatsu building. Rebellion soldiers file out of the vehicles in separate lines, making their way further in to the building and dispatching the Tekken Force that are exiting the building's elevator. The rebellion soldiers find cover behind walls as they progress further inward, stopped by the Tekken Force soldiers which continue to arrive from the elevator.
The shot cuts to Lars as he exits one of the HUMVEEs, walking towards the enemy Tekken Force soldiers, backlit by the headlights of HUMVEEs still stationed outside of the building. Seeing Lars' arrival, the rebellion soldiers fall back and cease their returning fire. A Tekken Force soldier readies a rocket launcher and fires a missile at Lars. Lars deflects the projectile, which explodes as it lands instead behind him.
Lars charges towards the enemy soldiers, incapacitating four of them in quick succession. Two Tekken Force soldiers remain, one of them aiming another missile at the remaining rebellion forces. Lars tackles the Tekken Force soldier and the two are engulfed by an explosion.
As the smoke and fire begins to dissipate, an unscathed Lars stands and turns back to his soldiers, simply stating, "It's about to begin".
Tekken 7
Official Website Profile (Japanese) Lars Alexandersson has both exceptional physical ability and intelligence. At a young age, he became a Tekken Force officer – the special forces that the Mishima Zaibatsu is very proud of. Jin Kazama, who became the head of the Mishima Zaibatsu, started a war against the world. Lars had doubts about Jin’s methods, and led many Tekken Force soldiers to carry out a coup d’etat. After that, Lars survived many battles, and now puts a certain plan into action. Hiding out with his rebel army in a secret base, he is looking for an opportunity to strike.[43]
Summary of In-Game Events While driving in the Middle East, Lars watches Heihachi's announcement of the King of The Iron Fist Tournament 7. He finds and rescues Jin in a nearby souk from being captured by UN soldiers, bringing Jin to a facility owned by Lee for his recovery. Later, Lars reunites with Alisa after she has been repaired by Lee. While the three of them are watching over Jin, who is currently comatose, Lars is about to state his intentions for his nephew when they are suddenly attacked by the Tekken Force. Lars and his men hold off the soldiers while Alisa battles Nina. The invading Tekken Force manage to air lift Jin's hospital bed via helicopter, but Lee hijacks the helicopter carrying Jin, activating a bomb within the building. Lars makes his escape with Alisa while Lars’ army evacuates. Lee then destroys the facility while Nina is still trapped inside. Lars later asks if it was Lee's plan all along to lure the Tekken Force to the building in order to defeat them.
Later, Lee introduces Lars to an investigative journalist who is trying to uncover the truth of the Mishima Zaibatsu. While talking to Lee, Lars reveals that he intends to use Jin to stop the war, which surprises the journalist. Lars later finds the journalist preparing to kill Jin out of revenge for starting the war, which led to the journalist's family as one of the casualties. Though he understands how the journalist feels, Lars stops him from killing Jin, restating that he believes Jin will be the key to ending the conflict.
A few days later, Lars, Lee, Alisa, and the journalist watch Heihachi's broadcast of Kazuya's devil form, revealed during Kazuya's fight with Akuma. At night, Lars receives a call from the Mishima Zaibatsu, informing him to pick up the journalist at a wharf after his interview with Heihachi. A few hours later, they all watch via Lee's spy satellite as Heihachi and Kazuya fight for the final time inside a volcano.
After Heihachi is killed by Kazuya, Lars stands on the rooftops of a destroyed city with Lee and Alisa, and says to the now-awakened Jin that he now has to right his wrongs, and bring an end to the endless conflict for good.
Tekken 8
Official Website Profile (Japanese; US English) & Closed Alpha Test Character Profile Lars Alexandersson is Heihachi Mishima's illegitimate son and the leader of the rebel army fighting against G Corporation. A former officer of the Mishima Zaibatsu's special military unit known as the Tekken Force, Lars led a coup d'état against the Zaibatsu and took many of the Tekken Force personnel with him.
Not long after the coup, the world fell under the control of G Corporation led by Kazuya Mishima. Lars formed a new rebel army called Yggdrasil and amassed enough military strength to launch a revolt against the tyrant. Lars even formed an alliance with his long-time enemy, Jin Kazama, and began preparations for Operation Lightning, a plan to take down Kazuya and bring peace to the world.[39]
Character Episode Prologue Lars Alexandersson had risen in revolt against the Mishima Zaibatsu, forming the rebel army Yggdrasil.
He bolstered his forces to oppose the Mishima Zaibatsu and G Corporation.
The immense power struggle that unfolded between these two massive conglomerates had brought the world and its people to the very brink of annihilation.
Soon thereafter, he heard the announcement of The King of Iron Fist Tournament to select the next head of the Mishima Zaibatsu.
Lars resolved to join the tournament, and gain the authority he needed to put an end to the global pandemonium.
"This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, we can't let it pass us by."
Ending Description After shooting an ad campaign video for Yggdrasil with Lars Alexandersson advertising for new recruits, Lee Chaolan approaches Lars to compliment his acting ability. Alisa Bosconovitch joins in, and she and Lars begin conversing, ignoring Lee. Realizing that the two are too absorbed in one another to pay him any mind, Lee allows them to have their moment alone, snapping his fingers to dim the lights and give them a spotlight, with confetti falling over them.
Summary of In-Game Events
Six months after Jin reawakens, Lars initiates "Operation Lightning", sending Jin to face Kazuya in the streets of New York. The operation fails when Jin loses control of his Devil Gene, and Kazuya destroys multiple city blocks with a single blast of energy.
A week after this encounter, Lars spars with Jin, who has just recently recovered from bedrest. He notes that Jin's fighting seems different, and Lee approaches the two to reveal that Jin's strength has been weakened to a fraction of its original level. Lars asks Jin to show him his Devil power, but Jin is unable.
Three days later, Lars and Lee speak about the tournament, and intend to send Alisa to verify if there is to be an assassin within the participating fighters. Jin arrives and intends to join the tournament. Lars warns Jin that it may be a trap, and asks if he is sure he wishes to enter. Jin assents, and Lars tells him he has three days to get himself back into fighting shape.
After the first tournament matches, Lars convenes with Jin, Lee, Alisa, Reina, Leo, and Leo's father, Niklas, in order to discuss the information Niklas has learned about the origin of the Devil Gene and its activation within a host. They learn that the Devil activation is dependent on strong emotions, and Lars comments that Kazuya's desire for power is what helps him maintain his strength as Devil.
During the tournament finals, Lars arrives with multiple Yggdrasil forces to the coliseum where the fights are being held. He and Lee meet with Victor, and Yggdrasil forces alongside United Nations forces launch an attack on the coliseum to halt the final matches and evacuate the area. The two forces are unable to stop Kazuya from unsealing Azazel from Zafina and defeating the beast to absorb his power. As Jin flees the arena to go to Yakushima, Lars remains to fight True Devil Kazuya with Victor, Reina, Lee, Alisa, Claudio, and Hwoarang.
G Corporation forces are sent to Yakushima in order to find and capture Jin. Lars arrives on the Yakushima battlefield, and a flashback sequence shows Lars enlisting the aid of Leroy, Paul, Kuma, King, Hwoarang, Steve, and Shaheen for the ensuing battle. He leads the assault with the seven tournament competitors along with Leo, Lee, Alisa, and Reina, and the Yggdrasil forces are joined once again by Victor and United Nations soldiers, with Raven joining them as well.
After securing one area of the battlefield, Lars leads his soldiers further into the fray. The fighting continues, with Lars and his forces pinned by the overwhelming G Corporation combatants. Alisa arrives to where Lee and Lars are stationed to report the findings of her scan of the island, and Lars falls back from the battlefield to find and secure Jin instead.
Lars finds Jin and Xiaoyu, who has been fighting off multiple Jack-7s in order to keep Jin safe. He rescues Xiaoyu from an oncoming attack, and Kazuya arrives in his True Devil form. The two do battle, and Lars is able to hold off True Devil Kazuya long enough for Jin to regain consciousness and rescue Lars before Kazuya can land a final, likely fatal blow.
In the good ending, Lars is seen in a Yggdrasil hangar saluting lines of Yggdrasil soldiers, Lee, and Alisa.
Gameplay
Lars is one of the more flexible fighters in the series, equipped with a number of moves that are useful in a variety of situations and against a variety of fighters, and is also one of the most simple to learn and use. Lars is an offensive character, with great speed and safe launchers, which make it fairly easy to get the opponent up into the air for juggles. He is also known for having excellent wall-carry due to his Dynamic Entry and Silent Entry stances giving the player the ability to reduce space quickly between themselves and an airborne opponent, with many moves coming from these stances that will cause Wall and Balcony breaks. Fighting style
According to Katsuhiro Harada, Lars's fighting style was not based on any real martial art and is completely made up.[46] His fighting style was officially listed as Karate in Tekken Tag Tournament 2.[2] From Tekken 7 onward, however, it is referred to as "Tekken Forces Martial Arts" (鉄拳衆特殊部隊格闘術, Tekkenshū tokushu butai kakutō-jutsu?).[3]
Lars's fighting style strongly resembles and was possibly inspired by Shorinji Kempo, a martial art that includes rapid attacks and flashy, quick movements including the elements of go-ho (hard techniques such as punches, kicks, and other strikes) and ju-ho (soft techniques such as joint locks, throws, and defenses).

Lars faces off against Azazel's power once more in Tekken 8 in the form of True Devil Kazuya. Wang Jinrei - He gave information to Lars about Jin's war on the world and warned him about Alisa. He also told him about an epitaph Heihachi found in Central America that might be of use to him. Zafina - She assures that Lars will save the world from Azazel. She later allies with Lars and Raven to fight off an army of Tekken Force soldiers on an island (Anger of the Earth). In Tekken 8, Zafina urges Jin to return to Yakushima, and Lars is among the fighters who help to ensure Jin is able to. NANCY-MI847J - He encountered it during the Scenario Campaign, but it was defeated by Raven.
Reina - Reina is aware of the fact that Lars is Heihachi's son, but Lars seems unaware of who Reina truly is. Reina assists Lars's Yggdrasil forces in defeating Kazuya and defending Yakushima, albeit with ulterior motives. Noctis Lucis Caelum - A friend of Lars as seen in his reveal trailer where Lars contacts him to clear their fishing spot (non-canon).
