Amy is an anthropomorphic hedgehog with pink fur, emerald green eyes, and peach skin on her snout and arms. Her pink fur is usually pale or light pink, although in other appearances she is depicted with a hot pink hue (Sonic Generations and Sonic Unleashed). Her quills point downwards, similar to a bob haircut. She wears a red ribbon, white gloves, and gold bracelets as accessories. Like Tails, she has three quills on her forehead, resembling bangs. She apparently wears mascara on her eyelashes. Amy wears a sleeveless red dress with two white stripes at the beginning and end of the dress, and wears tall, red boots with a white stripe down the middle. Like Cream the Rabbit, the length of Amy's hair or quills often vary. The back of her hair was much shorter than the hair on the side of her face in Sonic Adventure, but as of Sonic Unleashed it looks longer.

Knuckles is an anthropomorphic echidna with red fur covering most of his body except for his snout, which is peach-colored with a pointed nose. He has a crescent-shaped patch of white fur on his white chest, and his eyes are purple. He also has seven downward-pointing spikes on his head and a medium-sized, twisted tail.

For attire, Knuckles wears red and yellow shoes, each with green cuffs and a gray plate with six bolts on top. He also wears large, white, mitten-like gloves with sock-like cuffs and two spiked knuckles on each hand.

Tails is an anthropomorphic two-tailed fox with orange fur covering most of his body, white fur on his muzzle with four whiskers on each side, torso, and the tips of his tails, a fringe of three dendrites on his head, and light blue eyes. Silver is a light grey (almost white) anthropomorphic hedgehog with white fur on his chest surrounding his neck with golden eyes and tan skin. He wears white gloves with cyan circles with lines protruding from the bottom leading to his cyan accented gold bracers. The tops of his boots are in a similar fashion with a red gem set in gold. The rest of his boots are navy blue, white, and cyan. He has two large spikes on the back of his head, while on the front of his forehead are five distinct spikes that arch up and back, with the last two covering most of his ears.

For attire, he retains his characteristic glasses and gloves, but incorporates a pair of gray octagonal glasses known as "Egg Goggles" with green lenses, which sit on his forehead, though he very rarely wears them, but was seen wearing them once in Sonic Adventure 2. He now wears a red coat adorned with four gold buttons on each side of his chest, each accompanied by white straps that go to additional identical buttons on his back. The coat features silver linings on the back, arms, and front, yellow cuffs, and two extensions at the front with large silver buttons. In addition, Eggman wears black trousers with matching boots, which have circular plates on both sides of the ankles and three square ones extending to the shin.
