Kurapika Kurta⁴

He wears a tuxedo, and on missions, he has an H on the left side of his jacket. Kurapika wears two earrings, but only one is shown throughout the series.

At first glance, Kurapika has a somewhat androgynous appearance, and his physical build is quite small, so his features are quite subtle and youthful. He has blonde hair with brown eyes;

After learning Nen, he begins wearing black contact lenses to hide his scarlet eyes.

After becoming a professional hunter, Kurapika begins a self-destructive path. His anger leads him to commit evil acts. In addition, Kurapika's reserved demeanor makes him very ruthless and irrational, but his friends are the only ones capable of making him think rationally in his moments of anger. Still, he considers his friendships as a weakness that makes it difficult for him to succeed in his goals.

Kurapika is a sensible and intelligent person, who has extensive knowledge and is very critical. He initially kept his distance from other people after being traumatized by the loss of everyone he loved at the age of twelve, being introverted in order to stay focused on achieving his goal. Although outwardly Kurapika claims that he wants to be a Blacklist Hunter and his ultimate goal is to capture the gang of thieves who massacred his clan, the Ghost Brigade, deep down he is a just and kind person.

As a child, Kurapika nearly fell off a cliff, but for the interference of his best friend, Pairo. While Kurapika was unharmed, Pairo had been severely injured, causing weak growths on both his legs and eyes, which seemed to get worse by the day. Kurapika felt responsible for the incident, and believed that the only way to resolve it was to go to the "outside world" and bring his tribe the best doctor to heal him. However, his leader refused to allow this option, considering that humans are beings who do not understand his race, and it could prove dangerous.

Over time, the clan is massacred by the Phantom Troupe for their scarlet eyes, which were highly valued monetary items, leaving behind dozens of corpses with their eyes gouged out in their wake. As the last survivor of his clan, Kurapika vows to recover all of his village's stolen eyes and arrest all members of the Phantom Troupe.

Kurapika was a member of the defunct Kurta clan.
