Alan couldn't believe the fact that he gets to wake up to the love of his life every morning. He really thought he'd die alone. He lived past the era where arranged marriage were still common and his response to every suitor would be so cold and bitter that everyone cursed him that he'd never be able to love and that he'd simply have no one to come to his funeral.

But that wasn't true. You didn't come into his life when he expected it, but rather much later than he did. He couldn't help but fall hard for you, but of course, he'd never say anything like that. It would make him physically cringe.
