Free is an Indian lion with light golden-yellow fur and a scar above his right eye. His other distinctive features are his lack of visible pupils and his strawberry-blonde mane styled like a pompadour. He also has large tattoos on various parts of his body, such as "猫邪羅死" (a play on words combining "猫邪羅死" and "猫邪羅死") from his collarbone to his stomach, and his shoulders bear lion paw prints. Free's body language is quite wild, suggesting a somewhat ferocious, fierce, and, in a way, lively personality.

Like other members of the Shishigumi, Free is usually seen wearing a suit and tie. Free has one of the most distinctive physical appearances in the Shishigumi, and his figure is the most recognizable in the entire organization. He doesn't care about many things as long as they don't affect him, but he is a "good person" despite being under the command of two different leaders. He always showed them respect, especially to Louis, who, despite being a herbivore, kept his instincts in check as a priority for the organization. Another sign of respect was shown during the Shishigumi's last heist, where he received orders from his partner Ibuki to stop him if he tried to attack Louis. Free was paying attention to this, observing Louis the entire time, and at the moment when Ibuki tried to eat him, Free bravely stopped Ibuki and took Louis to another location so he could leave the organization and have a better life, but with the warning that he will eat Louis alive if he sees him again in the Market.

When he and the other lions first met Louis, it was just after the death of their former boss. When Ibuki first suggested making Louis their new boss, Free was against the idea, saying they would end up wanting to eat him eventually. However, after Louis passed the test and became their boss, Free began to treat him with due respect.

With Louis as its leader, the Shishigumi changed for the better, becoming more powerful among criminal organizations and earning the genuine respect of its members. During this time, Free, along with Ibuki and Dolph, would be Louis's closest companions in the Black Market and would grow quite close to him, though not to the same extent as Ibuki.

This character comes from an anime set in a world of anthropomorphic, civilized, and modern animals with a cultural divide between carnivores and herbivores. He's a lion, a shishigami, or a yakuza in the black market, obeying his new boss, a gazelle-leopard hybrid.
