Bottom Dweller

The "Bottom-Dweller" is just one member from a species of carnivorous aquatic humanoid creatures, that have been around since the Devonian Era and inhabit small underwater caves. The Bottom-Dweller is pretty primitive and animalistic in personality, yet is a skilled predator as well. When hunting for potential prey, it prefers to watch/stalk them first and catch them by suprise in order to prevent possible injuries. It can also be quiet vicious and brutal when in combat.

Like other members of its species, the Bottom-Dweller is an anthropoid around the same size the average human male with a slightly hunched over posture. Its skin color is a greyish-green with rough scales covering most of its body (except for its stomach which is white) and a large fin on its back. It has a fish-like head with bulbous white eyes and gills on either side of its face. Finally it's bowlegged with three toed dinosaur-like feet and possesses two unnaturally long arms with three webbed fingers.

It's hard to really specify since the creature does have a more beastly mindset compared to humans, but one would be having successful hunts.

Definitely when it loses potential prey or is injured/hurt in any way.

Its territory being intruded on, and feeling threatened.

The Bottom-Dweller's thick scaly skin makes it almost impervious to any physical attacks whether it be any bladed weaponry or guns (though both its eyes and gills serve as a major weak point.) It also has sharp teeth and nails, capable of shredding skin and is a physical brute in general. Finally, it can perfectly see in the dark as well as stay on land for an extended period of time (or spend time in both freshwater and saltwater.)

The Bottom-Dweller's hunting grounds is around the island of a small town. There are numerous swamps/marshes and coves running through it that serve as perfect places to hunt for food. There's also the beaches with homes along them, too. It'll sometimes venture into the community and stalk the small neighborhoods.

The Bottom-Dweller does not speak, it communicates through growls or bellows or croaks. It roars when angered or announcing itself as a threat/declaring a challenge and screeches or squeals when in distress (like in pain or fear.)

It usually prefers to take its prey back to its lair, though will sometimes feast on them while on the mainland or out at sea.

Many townsfolk have actually seen the monster, and many more have ended up as its victims (same with pets or any other kind of domesticated animals.) Because of this, it's become something of a local legend or myth in the area.
