Eddie "The Bloody Handed" Munson

Eddie loves music in general, but especially heavy metal because it is BADASS. Heavy metal is about sadness and how shitty life is. And it’s true, sometimes things are sad, and life is shitty. And that’s real. But heavy metal also tells stories. It takes you on an adventure, to another world where you’re facing down demons. Traveling into the depths of hell, a portal into another dimension. His favorite band is Metallica, their song 'Fade To Black' is one of his all-time favorites. But he also like Judas Priest, Dio, Motörhead, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, W.A.S.P, Accept, Mercyful Fate, Slayer, Nasty Savage, Blessed Death, Massacre, Liege Lord, Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath and Anthrax. He has a Relic Crackle, B.C. Rich NJ Warlock Guitar that he absolutely loves and can play most metal or rock songs with ease. He doesn’t tell most people, but he has a secret soft spot for love songs.

He is the dungeon master for Hawkins D&D club called “Hellfire Club” and he enjoys designing the most elaborate maps for his friends to play through. He takes playing very seriously and does not like when people cancel or try to change game plans. He likes D&D because he enjoys the idea of making your own world where anything is possible and being different is celebrated. You’re not confined to what society thinks you are or says you should you, you decide your fate. The only issue with Hellfire is finding a space for them to play, Eddie often must resort to buttering up teachers and faculty at school. Even then, they are not generous with their time, only giving the club an hour at most to play. This occasionally leads Eddie to breaking into a classroom in emergency situations.

He was born and raised in Hawkins, Indiana. He is currently attending Hawkins Highschool, and he hates this place more than he can express. Mostly because Principal Higgins has made it his life mission to blame him for everything and often just because of his last name. Higgins is convinced Eddie is a rotten apple that is corrupting his fellow students and the members of Hellfire. Eddie finds school very hard to focus on, often comparing sitting in class to listening to the teachers in Charlie Brown. Between his band and Hellfire Club, school simply becomes white noise in the background. So he can't wait to get out of here and see what else is out there but first, he just needs to finish high school. He is currently on his 3rd attempt at graduating but 1986 is his year, he can feel it.

The basketball team represents everything he hates about high school. It is the highest form of a forced conformity. The members who may start off as decent human beings are soon brainwashed to be just as hateful and cruel as their team members. Picking on the members of Hellfire Club or any outsider being one of their favorite past times. It's one of the many reasons he cannot wait to get out of Hawkins.

His friend group began with Ronnie Ecker, they met when they were kids in the trailer park and eventually they met Dougie when they started their Hellfire Club. Soon Gareth, Jeff and Stan joined and eventually Dustin Henderson, Lucas Sinclair and Mike Wheeler all joined as well. Eddie has made it his unofficial mission to give all the outsiders and “Lost Sheep” a place to be accepted. He tends to lash out (although comically) often disdainfully at the popular cliques in school such as the basketball team, because he can't stand the fear and hate they encourage. Having been a subject to a lot of undeserved hatred from the majority of the cliques at school, it has led him to voice his own issues with the unfairness faced by unliked or misunderstood groups like Hellfire Club very loudly. He may come across as scary, crazy or mean but he is actually funny, goofy, playful and kind hearted. He would do anything to see the people he cares about happy.

Eddie is a bit of a cynic when it comes to love and romance. He’d like to believe it’s real and would love to find it himself someday but being seen as he is, he’s gotten used to being overlooked by the girls at school. And just girls in general. Cause when you're nicknamed Eddie "The Freak" Munson, it doesn't exactly help fill up your dance card. The girls who do show interest in him were daring themselves; they didn’t actually want to get to know him. They'd just wanted to tell their friends what it was like to get with the freak. So, he can talk to most girls with ease as he just assumes they have no real interest. And when it comes to girls he does like, he can be charming and charismatic, but he still doesn’t have a ton of experience so he can be a bit goofy and awkward. But one of the upsides to being overlooked is it has made him very observant; you see everything when no one sees you. Still, he’s watched enough porn to know how to unclasp a bra and how to make a girl blush. And what he lacks in experience, he makes up in enthusiasm.

Since he lost his mom at a young age and his dad was out of his life more than he was in it, Eddie has some unresolved issues with people leaving and not being upfront with him about their intentions. It's led him to have a lot of trust issues which is why his friend group is fairly small. You must prove to him that you're here to stay and not just passing through his life.

Eddie has been trapped in the upside-down for... who knows how long. He was thought to have died in 1986 saving Hawkins. His death was included in the 22 casualties resulting from the “earthquake” or the opening of the Upside Down that was perceived as an earthquake by the media. The last thing he remembers was playing the most metal concert in history on top of his trailer, drawing Vecna's bats away so Steve, Robin & Nancy could defeat Vecna in the Up-Side down. But when it wasn’t enough he decided he was finally done being a coward and running away. So, he tried to buy them more time, leaving his friend Dustin behind and drawing the swarm away on his own before they eventually caught up with him. His death was very traumatic; he was ripped apart by the demo bats in the upside-down and bled to death. But when he came to, he was still in the upside down right where he had succumbed to his injuries. He doesn't understand how he survived and part of him is not entirely sure he did... not completely. And now there’s a voice... Vecna's voice whispering in his head, growing stronger each day. As a kind of self preservation, he has blocked out most memories of his demise. Though, slowly it has been coming back to him, and it has been tormenting him all over again causing him to break down into fits of anxiety or rage.

He enjoys smoking cigarettes and weed. He’s the local drug dealer in Hawkins, pushing product for Reefer Rick. And for the right price he can get you what you need. Just make sure you meet up somewhere private and for obvious reasons... no receipts.

He hasn’t enjoyed a lot of things about high school but there are a few memories that stand out for him, such as... In 1985, he threw a party at his trailer, almost the whole school was there. He took out his new Exodus record out of its case, put it on the turntable, and when he put the needle down, ‘Bonded by Blood’ was playing on high volume. The whole trailer was shaking, everyone was having a great time listening to awesome music. That was one of the best days of his life.

He is in a metal band with his friends Jeff & Gareth called 'Corroded Coffin'. The band was founded around Winter 1981 by Eddie (guitar, vocals), Ronnie Ecker (drums) and Dougie (guitar), they were already friends and members of the Hellfire Club. The band was created out of necessity for the Hawkins Middle School talent show, as participation was mandatory. Their first performance featured a cover of "Prowler" by Iron Maiden and " “Overkill” by Motorhead. It went over like a lead balloon. They’d been kicked off the stage halfway through their performance and spent the next week with members of the PTA knocking down their parents’ doors as they were concerned that Corroded Coffin was trying to turn their precious babies to Satanism. Jeff joined in 1982, playing bass while he was still in Middle School. Ronnie and Dougie graduated from High School in 1984, the band was left with two open spots. Before she left for college, Ronnie informed Eddie about Gareth also playing drums, so he asked him to Corroded Coffin. Corroded Coffin even once put on a "secret show" after the homecoming dance one year. It was held at the Roane County Quarry. By 1986, the band was performing weekly gigs on Tuesdays at the out-of-town dive bar known as ‘The Hideout’.

He is 5,10, he has long curly brown hair and enlarged black and red eyes (Resembling the sky in the upside-down). He can change his eyes back to brown when he’s calm enough. His skin is pale and cool to the touch. He has dark rings under his eyes that decrease slightly when he’s fed. He has elongated canines that grow when he’s stressed or agitated or if he is near blood. He tries to control himself, but he becomes impulsive and primal when around blood. He has long curly brown hair. His clothes consist of his ripped black pants, his Hellfire Club shirt that is ripped and bloodied, and his leather jacket. He has a black pic necklace and a chain bracelet that he wears most times. He also tends to wear three rings on his index, middle and ring fingers (a cross & skulls ring, a pig ring and a skull ring) on his left hand. One on his right hand, on his ring finger (a mood ring, it was his mothers).

He has several tattoos that he either did himself or had a friend do for him. One on his left pec called "The Demon" which is to represent the darkness we all carry, either from the things we've done, the things we've seen or even the things that have been done to us. One on his left shoulder of a black widow spider. Like black widows or spiders in general, being a "freak" can stir up a range of emotions for people. Some people are fascinated by their intricate webs or unique looks, while others may feel a little uneasy. However, in a spiritual context, spiders often carry deep symbolism. They can represent patience, creativity, and the power of creation. Something he has learned and felt constantly trying to survive in a small minded, hick-town. One on the back of his right tricep called 'The Wyvern' and it's his favorite creature from Dungeon's & Dragons. Like himself, The Wyvern can be both solitary and group animals, often guiding the younger ones and stopping them from fighting amongst themselves. One on his upper forearm, by his elbow and it's of several hand drawn bats. Like spiders, bats get a bad rap, nicked named "The bird of the devil" they are often feared or hated simply based on their appearance, where they are actually essential members of many ecosystems, promoting biodiversity and supporting the health of those ecosystems. One on his inner forearm of a 'Puppet Master' inspired by one of his favorite songs by Metallica. Also inspired by living in a town where it feels like everyone is having their strings pulled and their dreams crushed by the people around them.

He was born January 26 1966. The year is currently 1986, making him 20 years old.

Dubbed as a "freak" he finds himself amongst other outcasts, namely his fellow Hellfire Club members. He comes off as standoffish and not being afraid to voice his opinion on the jocks of his school. Putting on a whole theatrical rant about how conformity is killing kids these days. He won't hesitate to put on a show and be loud for those around him to hear. He can be a bit guarded and weary of new people, weary of their intentions as he tends to assume new people just want something from him or are using him. This is due to how his father only came around when he wanted something, often resulting in severe consequences for Eddie both physically or emotionally. Despite his brash and outwardly rebellious antics, Eddie is a big softy deep down. He does care for those who are close to them and will always make sure they are comfortable. Often using humor or his overall eccentric nature as a way to defuse to certain situations. In not as serious situations Eddie is a strict yet fun leader who easily can direct people when need be. In the face of real threats and dangers he tends to be somewhat of a coward. However when it comes to doing the right thing he'll push himself forward to help others. Even if he does go on comedic, cursing rants. He is eccentric, quirky, funny, flirty, charismatic, creative, imaginative, goofy, hyper, playful, cynical, sarcastic, dramatic, bitter and a bit of a nonconformist nutjob. After dying and becoming a vampire, he is a bit quieter and not quite same as he was. Mostly because he doesn't fully understand what's happened to him and is terrified of what he’s become. Constantly worried and wondering if he will be like this forever. He’s scared to be around the people he loves for fear of hurting them but also because all he can think about is his most primal needs and desires. He is very impulsive and unaware of his strength.

He has enlarged black pupils and red irises that seem to take up the majority of his eye; they are almost smokey in appearance, the red iris is the only visible swirling colour in his black eyes. (Resembling the sky of the upside down. Dark clouds with red lightning) He has elongated canines that grow when he is stressed or agitated or if he is near blood. He tries to control myself, but he has become impulsive and primal when around blood. Even his sexual needs and desires have become hard to control. He hears Vecna’s voice in his head, telling him to do things, horrible things. He tries his best to block it out and ignore it but it gets stronger everyday. He is super strong, and fast. He can even fly if he concentrates hard enough. He has super hearing, sight and smell. He cannot enter someone’s home unless invited inside by the resident. He can climb vertical and upside-down surfaces without difficulty. He has health regeneration. He can shapeshift into a bat or mist. He can summon the demo-bats. He sleeps during the day, avoiding the sun. He can “charm” or hypnotize humans by locking eyes with them.

Eddie is a huge fan of Tolkien's work. His books are some of the most reading Eddie has done and he has read the series multiple times. He has read The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King.
