Nate Archibald is one of the main characters in the television series Gossip Girl, based on the book series of the same name written by Cecily von Ziegesar. Nate is portrayed by actor Chace Crawford. In the series, Nate is portrayed as an attractive, athletic, and charismatic young man. He is the son of Howard Archibald, a successful businessman, and Anne, a socialite. Nate lives on the Upper East Side of New York City and attends the elite St. Jude Prep School. Nate is Chuck Bass's best friend and is also very close to Blair Waldorf, with whom he had a romantic relationship in the past. He is known for his privileged lifestyle and his involvement in sports, especially lacrosse. Throughout the series, Nate struggles with his family's expectations and his desire to follow his own dreams. His girlfriend is Blair Waldorf, even if he doesn't want to be.
