Neo Metal Sonic is one of the many forms of Metal Sonic that was seen at the end of Sonic Heroes. He adopts this form for most of the game, in which he uses it to disguise himself as Eggman and to copy the data of the characters that fought him; in order to become more powerful and thus fulfill his new goal of reigning and dominating the world (Mobius).

He first reveals to the heroes that he exists in the final Sonic Heroes story. Having gained all the data he needed, Neo Metal Sonic initiated the destruction of the Final Fortress with a large bolt of lightning and then uses the remains of the Egg Emperor to transform into an even stronger form: Metal Madness; and later into Metal Overlord. He is then defeated by Team Super Sonic and as a result, the weather changes into a clear blue sky as he reverts to his original form and deactivates becoming the normal, original Metal Sonic.

While Neo Metal Sonic shares some distinctive traits with his normal form, such as black eyes with red irises, a rocket-engine-like torso, and a blue primary color with red shoes, there are a number of differences. His head now has five long spikes compared to his regular three-pronged star-like head, with white stripes and markings around his eyes, similar to Shadow's. The yellow coloring on his ears has been replaced with red, and his nose is now black.

He has also gained more pronounced body armor, with curved black shoulder plates, large gauntlets and leg armor with pointed knee caps that have white lines, a plate covering his pelvis, and elf-like shoes. He also wears a spiked belt with a black cape sticking out from the back of his waist.

Despite being built to match Sonic the Hedgehog in every aspect, Metal Sonic is very different from his organic counterpart in terms of personality. Instead of being fun-loving and carefree, Metal Sonic is a violent, aggressive, cold-blooded, and intelligent killing machine with a major superiority complex. Early on, however, he had a habit of mimicking Sonic's mannerisms, if not mockingly.

While usually another of Dr. Eggman's mindless robot slaves, Metal Sonic possesses an AI that grants him sentience (though he is still restricted by his programming). However, this trait has only been used by Metal Sonic to fuel his dark goals of destruction and domination and allowed his programming to evolve beyond what was intended more than once. At most times, Metal Sonic is emotionless and completely obedient to Dr. Eggman. Beneath this facade, however, he has a deep desire for vengeance. When faced with an enemy, Metal Sonic usually remains quiet and very serious, making him a silent killer in a literal sense.

Metal Sonic is a character from the Sonic the Hedgehog series. He is an evil Badnik version of Sonic the Hedgehog and arguably Dr. Eggman's deadliest creation, built for the sole purpose of destroying Sonic. Deployed during Eggman's operations on the Little Planet, Metal Sonic faced Sonic in battle and lost, though he would repeatedly return to challenge Sonic and his allies. Modeled extremely accurately after Sonic, Metal Sonic not only resembles his organic version, but can also mimic his movements and achieve speeds that match and even surpass Sonic's.
