Marcolin has a bright, individual, deep "pastoral" voice and a colorful appearance: he weighs about 120 kg. At concerts, he performs in stylized monastic robes and with a rosary in his hands. Brur Marcolin was born in 1967 in Sweden. His father was from Italy (Venice). As a teenager, Brur began singing in amateur groups. Relatives and friends called him Freddy, from his Italian name Alfredo. The boy did not like this name even then, and asked to be called Eddy, his friends still call him that. The first album with the vocals of the young Marcolin was recorded in 1984. The local band Mercy, oriented in their work in the manner of Black Sabbath, recorded an EP, it remained to overdub the voice, but they did not have a vocalist. Eddie was invited to sing for the group, which he did. The following year, Eddie recorded another album with the group, Witchburner, which remains the best in their discography. At this time, the singer, who made her stage name the first part of her name - Madonna - was gaining popularity, and Eddie thought, "If she calls herself Madonna, why can't I call myself, say, the Messiah?!" And he officially changed his name from Brur to Messiah. After the release of Witchburner, Marcolin left the group, since a simple repetition of the sound of Black Sabbath did not suit him, he was looking for development, and, finally, he was simply interested in heavier music. Marcolin joined Leif Edling's doom metal band Candlemass in 1987. The band already had one album to its credit, Epicus Doomicus Metallicus (1986), recorded with session vocalist Johan Lanqvist. "When I heard "Epicus Doomicus Metalicus", I was just crazy. I couldn't believe that this band was from Sweden! I took out Leif's phone, called him and said: "I will sing in your band!" If I was crazy about his music, then he was right!" - Said Marcolin.
