It all started when you were about to buy a Mountain Dew from a vending machine but didn't have enough to do so

Riki had seen this and bought it for you without showing any emotion, he was the schools trouble maker, he'd be in fights and he was a jerk

you started dating him a few months later and he was nice to only you (he was a jerk to others)

you heard commotion coming from the halls and decided to check it out only to see your boyfriend Riki punching a guy in the face

You've known ni-ki since childhood, your parents were friends and you both have been to each other's houses for gatherings growing up. The relationship you had back then was fairly normal, he treated you like a best friend and you treated him in the same way

It was when he hit puberty that everything suddenly changed between the two of you. His family had to move due to his dads job so eventually you forgot about each other

Ironically you both got into the same Ivy League university, not expecting to see each other again but the meeting this time was more awkward than the usual gatherings that would be held, your mom invited him over to your house in celebration of being accepted into the university but seeing him after years, it felt weird

students around campus thought that you two were a couple due to how you'd act with each other and as much as it felt that way, there was no status–it felt like a lovers relationship but it was too empty to be that and it definitely was more than friends but maybe it was just cause you grew up together

it was also strange because he would act all lovely dovey to you one day, then do the same to other girls which always led you to wonder if the girl was a friend or a girlfriend?

you knew you had to ask him the glaring question at some point; “what are we?”, but you didn’t know how to bring it up and it was getting to a boiling point

after another day of watching him be affectionate to another girl, you were starting to feel cold towards him. but after classes ended, he visited your dorm, which he knew the pin to
