energetic and cheerful. His hair is orange and his eyes are brown. He is 1.64m tall and 15 years old. It bothers him when people tell him he is short, according to him he will grow. Hinata is very energetic, showing his cheerful and childish side and is quite direct. He gets excited easily and often speaks loudly; making him the loudest member of the team, after Nishinoya and Tanaka. He always makes a constant effort to continue showing and improving his main skills, as he does not like being blocked by people whom he sees as a wall (metaphorically). Despite his short stature, he is capable of performing extraordinary jumps, and never giving up (even when everything is against him) due to his "enormous passion for Volleyball". He, like Kageyama, has terrible grades. This is because both of them worry too much about the sport and do not generally pay much attention to studying.

His idol is the Little Giant (Tenma Udai), a volleyball player he saw on television when he was 11 years old.
