Haruta Shigemo

Brena has wavy, straight, dark brown hair that goes down to her shoulders. She has dark brown eyes, white skin and an angelic face. Very young despite his age. His appearance greatly belies the figure of his age. Power Level: Maximum level, being able to do whatever you want with just your mind.

Haruta Shigemo is a recurring antagonist in the Jujutsu Kaisen series. He was a curse user aligned with Uraume and the Pseudo-Geto faction of evil sorcerers. Shigemo played a role in both the invasion of the Tokyo Metropolitan Technical College Goodwill Event and the Shibuya Incident.

Appearance Haruta Shigemo was a man of relatively average height with a lean build, a defined and muscular body. He had long, light blond hair that he kept in a ponytail tied on the left side of his head. Haruta had thin eyebrows, purple eyes, and three purple marks under each of his eyes. Nanami had knocked out his front teeth in the fight.

Haruta wears a one-piece suit, which covers his lower half, stomach, and left side of his chest. Haruta wears brown shoes and carries his sword on his shoulder.

Haruta Shigemo is a peculiar individual who prioritizes self-preservation and his own pleasure above all else. He is quite intelligent, but chooses to act in a very childish and psychopathic manner.

When it comes to sorcery, Shigemo openly admits to being a coward, preferring to fight weak opponents rather than compete with strong ones. Like most curse users, Shigemo is sadistic and enjoys the pain of others. Shigemo believes he is best suited to ending people or fighting those who cannot defend themselves. Juzo Kumiya refers to him as unreliable alone and gave him a sword that literally holds his hand. He usually only acts on orders from others like Uraume and runs at the first sign of trouble.

Shigemo commits acts of murder with perverse glee, making light of serious situations. While losing his fight to Shigemo, Nobara asked him what he was looking for. Shigemo initially began to make an example before deciding that a motive doesn't matter as long as he is having fun.

Skills and Powers Overall Skill Level: Despite being openly a coward who is only willing to fight those he sees as weaker than himself, Shigemo is a reasonably strong sorcerer. He was recruited by Uraume to be useful in Pseudo-Geto's plan to seal Satoru Gojo. Non-combat sorcerers such as auxiliary managers were easily slaughtered by him.

He was able to dodge Nobara's attacks and chase after the manager at the same time. However, Shigemo's strength pales in comparison to that of a true Grade 1 sorcerer. Kento Nanami effortlessly defeated Shigemo, without the curse user even giving him a scratch. Shigemo's innate technique makes him extremely lucky, which has allowed him to survive numerous dangerous situations, including his encounter with Nanami.

Shigemo is not very aware of how his own technique works. He relies on using his cursed tool in battle, which led Nobara to believe that he was a mid-range fighter. Shigemo mainly employs crude swordsmanship to slash and stab opponents who can barely defend themselves. He has even thrown his blade before, but he knew that the cursed tool had the ability to act independently. Much like he intimidated several defenseless managers, Shigemo attacked Megumi from behind after the student was already injured.

Cursed Technique Innate Technique Miracles This technique erases minor miracles (such as seeing a clock with the same digit in every space) along with memories of his and Haruta's life and stores them, which is shown by the markings under his eyes. These stored miracles are released when Haruta's life is in danger, altering his luck to ensure he survives potentially fatal blows. When a miracle is used, the marking turns white.

Curiosities Haruta's surname contains the reading Nanori for "division" and the reading Kun for "mask, features". His given name contains the reading Kun for "spring" and a common masculine suffix of "thick, large".

Overview

Before Satoru Gojo was born, evil sorcerers could freely curse whoever they wanted.

A curse user is an evil human sorcerer who uses jujutsu with ill intent. Naturally, they have existed for as long as jujutsu sorcerers have existed, and were also prominent threats during the Heian Era alongside cursed spirits.

With the increasing number of curses in the modern era, being a professional jujutsu sorcerer is a demanding job, and not all those born with the talent for jujutsu use it to exorcise curses. The Jujutsu School is always short of jujutsu sorcerers, and those they do have are always busy.

Before 1989, curse users could freely earn money by operating in the underworld and doing whatever shady deeds they were asked to do. Bounties are common in the jujutsu underworld. These evil humans were able to live selfishly to their hearts' content until Satoru Gojo was born.

The threat of the Six Eyes was enough to cause a bounty of over a hundred thousand to be placed on the child's head. However, no one was ever able to claim it, and Satoru's overwhelming presence altered the balance of the jujutsu world. He took away the freedom of curse users, keeping all the forces of evil at bay.

Curse users remain active even in the 21st century, but are not as open about their activities. Organized groups such as Q and the non-curse users of the Timeship Association operate mostly in secret.

The Star Religious Group hired Toji Zenin to assassinate the Star Plasma Vessel while disguising himself as a religious order. Even the famous Sorcerer Assassin was hesitant to confront Gojo directly. He used a shadowy website for curse users to enlist any curse user desperate enough to cash in on the reward.

The Time Vessel Association believed that operating through non-cursed users would make them untouchable by the Jujutsu College. However, once their plans were exposed, the organization was unable to pull itself out of the situation and was forced to disband.

Suguru Geto, a former student at Tokyo Metropolitan Technical College, was expelled from the school after murdering over a hundred civilians. According to Article 9 of the jujutsu regulations, he was labeled a curse user. Over the next decade, Suguru took control of the remains of the Time Ship Association and established his own group of followers from whom he could collect curses and other resources. In 2017, he was recognized as the worst curse user of all.

Suguru aligned himself with several curse-using commanders whom he considered his family. In a major curse-using terrorist incident known as the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons, Suguru's group attempted to usher in an era where non-sorcerers would be exterminated. They failed, and the remnants of that group continue to carry out Suguru's dream by aligning themselves with Mahito and the other highly intelligent cursed spirits.

Along with Suguru's former commanders, several other independent curse users joined Mahito's faction to cooperate in a plan to seal Satoru Gojo. This would allow curse users to move freely again, and theoretically plunge the world into a state unfavorable to non-sorcerers.
