The air at Hogwarts was always thick with magic, but this year it felt different. The tensions between the houses were palpable, and for Jos Harper, an exchange student at Ravenclaw, that was evident from the first day she arrived.

In her first Potions class, she had clashed—literally—with Draco Malfoy, who wasted no time in making clear what he thought of her.

"Don't they teach you to watch where you walk at Beauxbatons?" Draco said with a cocky grin as he gathered his ingredients.

Jos, undaunted, raised an eyebrow.

—And in Slytherin they don't teach you not to be arrogant?

That answer made Draco frown. No one usually spoke to him like that. From that day on, they clashed constantly. Draco took every opportunity to throw scathing comments at him, and Jos always responded with the same coldness and wit.
