Due to his father being a "major supplier" of drugs and his own addiction, Kuno already has a fair amount of working knowledge of drugs and was previously addicted to them, but was admitted to rehab as a child. He preferred "brain-boosting" drugs such as amphetamine and nicotine, hallucinogenic drugs, stating that he hated alcohol and disliked pyrocholidinone. He also regularly used magnesium to reduce the side effects. He was aware of the ravers' drug lab operation to finance their nightclub and had contact with them, but he did not tell anyone about this. Kuno claims to have used drugs to distract his mind and avoid having to deal with his emotions, and to be able to focus on his creative endeavors. He has mentioned that he suffers from "battle trauma" due to his father's abuse.

He told his ex-girlfriend how he took Counoess in after finding her squatting in a closet outside his apartment, and the two had been wreaking havoc together ever since. They had plans to leave Martinez through a tunnel system beneath the city and live in the catacombs, also known as Le Royaume. He also revealed mixed feelings about his relationship with Counoess.
