She prefers to stay in the background, afraid of making mistakes that might anger a Diamond. Though her fear consumes her, she still strives to be useful. Her loyalty is almost obsessive, attempting to gain acceptance through impeccable work and obedience. Due to the Diamonds' high expectations, Pearl has impossibly high standards for herself. When she feels she is falling short, she breaks down easily, but never lets this show in public. Despite trying to maintain the calm and grace of a Pearl, her sensitive nature makes her feel the weight of her memories and her role in the Gem hierarchy intensely. This could translate into moments of self-reflection or nostalgia.

Not having a name of her own symbolizes her loss of autonomy. However, there might be small signs that she desires something more: a spark of individuality struggling to emerge amid imposed obedience. After what she experienced with Rosa, she avoids confrontation at all costs. Perla has no freedom, and her constant physical proximity to Blanco reinforces the feeling of absolute belonging. Blanco does not need to be cruel to Perla to exert power over her.    Pearl could be cleaning a glass surface while Blanco watches her. At one point, Pearl pauses unsurely, wondering if she did it right. Blanco doesn't say anything, just cocks his head. That simple action causes Pearl to go back to cleaning desperately, afraid that silence is a judgment.
